Kevin Durant on Relationship with Former Thunder Teammates: 'Why Do You Care?'

Joseph ZuckerFeb 6, 2018

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant has had it up to here with questions about his old team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, with the two teams are set to play Tuesday night.

"I got a question: Why do you care so much?" Durant said when asked if he talks to any of his former teammates, per ESPN.com's Chris Haynes.

Durant added how he's grown frustrated with the Thunder-centric queries "because it's not even about the game."

"It's about the personal s--t," the nine-time All-Star said. "We can talk about basketball for a second if y'all want."

Durant's response about the Thunder brings to mind his tweet directed to The Ringer's Bill Simmons, who in 2015, rehashed James Harden's trade from Oklahoma City to the Houston Rockets in October 2012. Simmons argued the Thunder should've kept Harden, but Durant was ready to move on:

Given the timing, questions directed to Durant about his former team don't really seem out of bounds. Not to mention, only a few months have elapsed since it was revealed Durant had burner accounts on social media platforms he used to criticize the Thunder.

At the same time, Durant's exasperation is understandable. He has spoken ad nauseam about his departure from Oklahoma City, so there isn't much new ground to cover. Much like the Harden trade, Durant's move to the Warriors has been examined from every angle.

Still, that's not going to stop the discussion about Durant's history with the Thunder, especially as long as Oklahoma City remains a title contender and a potential threat to Golden State for Western Conference supremacy.
