Cubs' Yu Darvish Placed on 10-Day DL with Parainfluenza Virus
The Chicago Cubs announced they placed pitcher Yu Darvish on the 10-day disabled list with a parainfluenza virus.
The DL stint is retroactive to May 4.
This is another setback for Darvish after he went on the disabled list with a back injury in 2017, missed the 2015 campaign following Tommy John surgery and made just 17 starts in 2016.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
While he is one of the better pitchers in baseball when healthy, the four-time All-Star has struggled in the early going with Chicago. He has a 6.00 ERA and 1.57 WHIP through his first six starts after posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 209 strikeouts in 186.2 innings last year as a member of the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Cubs still have the trio of Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks and Jose Quintana to anchor the starting rotation and Tyler Chatwood and potentially long reliever Mike Montgomery for depth purposes.
Still, the idea of facing Lester, Darvish, Hendricks and Quintana with no breaks during a potential playoff series is a major reason the Cubs are on the short list of World Series contenders, and they need the right-hander back, healthy and pitching well again for that to be a reality.
