Smith had a rough go with the Eagles after he was drafted to play outside linebacker in former head coach Chip Kelly's 3-4 defense.
That experiment proved to be a bust, though, as Smith managed 1.5 sacks and four tackles in his first two seasons combined.
Smith moved to defensive end when head coach Doug Pederson hired Jim Schwartz as his defensive coordinator, and he experienced a bit more success working with his hand in the dirt.
Appearing in all 16 games last season, Smith recorded 2.5 sacks and 12 tackles.
Smith's move to the Seahawks means he should transition back to outside linebacker since head coach Pete Carroll deploys a 3-4 scheme.
But based on his lackluster production over the past three seasons, Smith shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a low-risk flier as the Seahawks aim to get an extended look at the Louisville product during training camp.
