Keeping up with free agency in the NBA can be so complicated that even teams can mess it up sometimes. The Warriors will be one of the those teams over the cap once all their deals are completed. The reigning champs went on a spending spree with Curry’s big deal, re-signing Durant, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and everything else they’re doing. Warriors' Season Tickets to Require Fans to Buy 30-Year Membership at New Arena

Scott PolacekJul 19, 2017

The Golden State Warriors are looking for a long-term commitment from their fans but will reportedly pay their supporters back with more than just championship-level basketball.

On Wednesday, Al Saracevic of the San Francisco Chronicle reported the defending NBA champions revealed their season-ticket sales plan for the Chase Center, set to open in 2019.

The "membership" program "will require season-ticket buyers to pay a one-time fee that will enable you to buy your seats for 30 years," Saracevic wrote. "In a unique twist yet to be used in any pro sport, the Warriors promise to pay back that fee after 30 years."

Saracevic noted the Warriors plan on selling two-thirds of their 18,000 seats to season-ticket holders with the remaining allotment going to the public on a per-game basis. Prices have not yet been determined.

Golden State president Rick Welts insisted the pay-back feature at the end of the 30 years separates this plan from personal seat licenses, which require ticket holders to pay a cost for the right to purchase season tickets every season.

"This is completely unique, and you cannot call it a PSL program," Welts said, per Saracevic. "What's unique about it, for people who buy a Chase Center membership...you're guaranteed that what you pay is fully refundable at the end of 30 years."

According to Saracevic, those fans who make the 30-year commitment will also have the first chance to buy tickets for other events at Chase Center.

Although fans will be able to transfer or sell their memberships via a team-run marketplace, such a purchase would be a serious commitment. That said, the Warriors are currently atop the basketball world. They reached the last three NBA Finals, winning two, and set a league record with 73 wins the one season they didn't win the title during that span.

The star-studded team features Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green—all of whom are under 30 years old—and figures to compete for championships for seasons to come.

While the Warriors' glory may not last a full 30 years, the season-ticket holders figure to at least enjoy the next few with so much talent on the floor.
