Yankees Trade Rumors: Todd Frazier, David Robertson Deal Close to Done
The New York Yankees are reportedly close to acquiring relief pitcher David Robertson and infielder Todd Frazier.
On Tuesday, Bruce Levine of 670 The Score in Chicago reported the Bronx Bombers were the "team closest" to making a trade with the Chicago White Sox. Levine noted the pair, as well as relief pitcher Tommy Kahnle, would be heading to the Yankees if the move was completed.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports also reported New York was "close" to landing the three players in exchange for prospects.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports noted the Yankees would receive "lower-level, but well-regarded" prospects in the deal. Bob Nightengale of USA Today noted Yankees 2016 first-round pick Blake Rutherford would be the top prospect being sent to Chicago. Pitcher Ian Clarkin and reliever Tyler Clippard would also head to Chicago, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post and Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
If the White Sox do land prospects in this potential deal, it will continue their impressive rebuilding efforts via trades.
The traded ace Chris Sale to the Boston Red Sox in December for four prospects, including infielder Yoan Moncada and pitcher Michael Kopech. Moncada is the No. 1 prospect in MLB.com's prospect rankings, while Kopech is No. 11.
What's more, the White Sox traded pitcher Jose Quintana to the Chicago Cubs on Friday for a prospect package that included outfielder Eloy JimenezโNo. 8 on the listโand pitcher Dylan CeaseโNo. 63 in the rankings.
This reported potential trade involving Frazier comes after Heyman reported the White Sox were in trade discussions with the Red Sox regarding the infielder.
Rosenthal provided more context:
Frazier was a two-time All-Star during his tenure with the Cincinnati Reds but is struggling this season with slash totals of .207/.328/.432 to go with 16 home runs and 44 RBI. However, he would add significant power to either American League East lineup considering he drilled a career-high 40 long balls last year and hit 104 home runs from 2014 to 2016.
As for Robertson, he has thrived this season with a 2.70 ERA and 0.96 WHIP and is familiar with the Yankees after pitching for them from 2008 to 2014. Kahnle sports a 2.50 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 36.0 innings and would also add a boost to New York's bullpen, which ranks fifth in the league in ERA, per ESPN.com.
