Knicks Rumors: New York Interested in Eric Bledsoe, Ramon Sessions

Alec NathanJul 12, 2017

In search of a starting point guard, the New York Knicks have reportedly contacted the Phoenix Suns about a potential trade for Eric Bledsoe.

According to the New York Post's Marc Berman on Wednesday, the Knicks "inquired" about Bledsoe's availability.

However, Berman noted the Knicks likely don't have the means to complete a deal since they're light on appealing trade chips.

A source also told Berman "the Knicks are among a multitude of teams that have inquired about" free-agent floor general Ramon Sessions.

Given the Knicks' salary cap situation, Sessions would be a logistically easier addition than Bledsoe—who has two years and $29.5 million left on his contract.

As Berman noted, the Knicks—after re-signing Ron Baker for the $9 million room exception and landing Tim Hardaway Jr. after extending him a four-year, $71 million offer sheet—only have $1.5 million in cap space.

However, they would be allowed to dip over the cap threshold by offering Sessions a veteran minimum contract worth roughly $2.3 million.

In 50 games last season, Sessions averaged 6.2 points, 2.5 assists and 0.5 steals while shooting 38.0 percent from the field, including 33.9 percent from three.
