Jordan Reed Placed on PUP List by Redskins Due to Toe Injury
Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed was placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of training camp Wednesday because of a toe injury, according to the Washington Post's Master Tesfatsion.
Although the move was labeled "precautionary," it's another knock for Reed—who missed 18 games over his first four seasons because of a variety of injuries, including multiple concussions.
But when Reed has been healthy, he's operated as the focal point of head coach Jay Gruden's passing game.

In fact, Reed has developed into such a dynamic weapon that Gruden said "the offense runs through Jordan" following the offseason departures of DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon, according to CSN Mid Atlantic.
Reed should be cleared to practice sooner rather than later based on initial reports, but the Redskins can take solace in the fact that they have solid depth at tight end to withstand his absence if he's sidelined longer than expected.
For now, Vernon Davis, Niles Paul and rookie Jeremy Sprinkle should receive the bulk of the reps as the Redskins begin preparations for the 2017 season.
