David Price Did Not Suffer Hand Injury vs. Rangers, Per John Farrell
After removing Boston Red Sox starting pitcher David Price from Tuesday's 11-4 win over the Texas Rangers, manager John Farrell said the lefty did not suffer an injury.
Farrell brought the trainer with him to the mound in the seventh inning to apparently check Price's hand or finger, but he said the following about the decision, according to Tim Britton of theย Providence Journal:ย "No, he's fine. There's nothing wrong with his finger. Just trying to get a little bit more out of him but wasn't going to let him labor. After the way the first at-bat unfolded, just got him out of the game."

Price went six innings, allowing six hits, two walks and no runs, while striking out nine.
The veteran lefty came out for the bottom of the seventh inning, but he walked Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos before Farrell decided to replace him with reliever Blaine Boyer.
When asked why Farrell had the trainer check on Price, he told Britton that it was essentially a precaution due to the circumstances surrounding the situation:
"Probably the long inning we had offensively, he had thrown 100 pitches to that point. But seeing some of theโwhether or not it was a little bit of fatigue setting in or just the fact that it was a long inning. At that point I wasn't going to let him grind through another hitter or two, so I made the move at that point."
The 31-year-old Price has now made seven starts this season after missing the beginning of the campaign due to anย elbow injury.
He is currently 4-2 with a 4.02 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 45 strikeouts in 47 innings.
Price has allowed three earned runs or less in each of his past five outings, and his return has coincided with Boston's surge to the top of the AL East.
The Red Sox lead the New York Yankees by four games in the standings entering play Wednesday.
