Carmelo Anthony Trade Rumors: Knicks 'Remain Hopeful' They Can Move Star SF
The New York Knicks are still trying to find a taker for Carmelo Anthony.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN.com, "Members of the organization have told people around the league that at this point, they remain hopeful that they can trade Anthony."
While the Houston Rockets were reportedly interested in a potential deal last month, the Knicks did not want to absorb Ryan Anderson's contract in return, per Begley.

Anthony is owed more than $26 million next season, and the organization is hoping to get his salary off the books to kickstart a rebuild.
Former team president Phil Jackson actively tried to convince Anthony to waive his no-trade clause, and the Knicks' mindset didn't change after parting ways with Jackson, as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN previously reported. Their priority is to find a trade partner rather than buying Anthony out.
However, the 33-year-old doesn't appear ready to waive his no-trade clause. Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reported last week that Anthony is "reluctant" to leave New York and instead wants to stay with his family.
Thus, the Knicks would not only need to negotiate a deal for the 10-time All-Star with another team, but they also must convince Anthony to allow the move.
