LeBron James Notches Double-Double in 1st Half of NBA Finals Game 2 vs. Warriors
LeBron James stuffed the stat sheet and recorded a first-half double-double to keep the Cleveland Cavaliers in lockstep with the Golden State Warriors during Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night at Oracle Arena.
By the time the second-quarter buzzer sounded, the Cavaliers trailed 67-64 thanks to James' halftime line of 18 points, 10 assists, six rebounds, two steals and a block.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, LeBron became the first player in 20 years to record at least 10 assists in the first half of a Finals game.
On the scoring front, James followed Kevin Durant's Game 1 lead and made a concerted effort to bully his way to the rim time and again—especially in transition.
NBA.com provided an overview of The King's first-half shot chart:
Meanwhile, NBA TV offered a look at James' most emphatic first-half bucket, which came when he intercepted an errant Stephen Curry pass before throwing down a tomahawk jam in the face of Andre Iguodala:
Thanks to James' efforts, the Cavaliers flipped the script and outscored the Warriors 36-20 in the paint during the first half after they managed 30 paint points total in Game 1.
