LeBron James Suffers Spine Injury vs. Spurs; Says He Won't Miss Games
The Cleveland Cavaliers are going through a rough patch, but at least LeBron James won't miss any time with an injury.
Despite taking an elbow to the spine in Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs, the superstar will play in his team's next game, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com.
"I'll be ready by Thursday," James said.
The Cavaliers lost 103-74 to the Spurs on Monday. They will visit the Chicago Bulls on Thursday as they try to end a two-game losing streak.
James needed 17 shots to score 17 points, and the rout was Cleveland's fourth loss in the last six games—with each setback by at least 12 points.
The slide has allowed the Boston Celtics to take over first place in the Eastern Conference.
While disappointing, the more important thing for the Cavs going forward is the health of key players. James has sat out three games since the All-Star break in order to remain fresh for the playoffs.
Considering his importance to the team, Cleveland is likely to remain cautious with James with just nine games remaining in the regular season.
