1 Word to Describe the Pre-Camp Vibe of All 32 NFL Teams
Now that we're on the true brink of training camp season throughout the NFL, a vibe check is in order.
A lot went down last season as well as this offseason that is impacting the feel surrounding each team as they embark on 2026 in a more official fashion.
Here's a squad-by-squad rundown.
AFC East

Buffalo Bills: Renewed
New No. 1 receiver, new defensive weapons, new home stadium. Enough said.
Miami Dolphins: Experimental
Malik Willis is an expensive experiment, as is the Green Bay South regime. The Dolphins are attempting a quick turnaround with a lot of unknowns.
New England Patriots: Noisy
It's been far from a quiet offseason for a team widely viewed as a rising perennial contender, highlighted by a high-profile controversy involving head coach Mike Vrabel and the blockbuster acquisition of star receiver A.J. Brown.
New York Jets: Stuck
This is a team that has the offensive talent to take off right now but will inevitably be held back by the fact Geno Smith is a low-ceiling, mistake-prone bridge.
AFC North

Baltimore Ravens: Pivotal
The John Harbaugh era is over, and Lamar Jackson now has a new, young offensive coordinator and a contract situation that looms large over the franchise. The Ravens are at a crossroads.
Cincinnati Bengals: Desperate
If it doesn't happen this year for this core and this coach, major changes are almost certainly coming for 2027. They can't afford a fourth consecutive non-playoff season.
Cleveland Browns: Transitional
New coaching staff (Kevin Stefanski out, Todd Monken in), new defensive leader (Myles Garrett out, Jared Verse in) and potentially the rise of a new franchise quarterback.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Weird
A geriatric Aaron Rodgers and the grizzled Mike McCarthy? What kind of odd throwback to the 2010s is this? And is it helpful for a team that hasn't won a playoff game in a decade?
AFC South

Houston Texans: Nervous
While the pieces are generally in place, another letdown season from quarterback C.J. Stroud likely leaves them out of contention.
Indianapolis Colts: Wishful
The Colts' vibe is wishful because Daniel Jones remains a question mark—both in terms of his health and his ability to finally deliver a full, successful season as a franchise quarterback.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Inspired
How could they not be after Trevor Lawrence lit it up as they went 8-0 in the second half of 2025? Lawrence might finally have the coach he's needed in Liam Coen.
Tennessee Titans: Hopeful
That Cam Ward is the man for the job based on a hot finish to his rookie campaign, and that rookie first-rounder Carnell Tate can help him get there this year.
AFC West

Denver Broncos: Encouraged
Year 3 for Bo Nix, who is working in an updated offense with a shiny new No. 1 receiver and appears to be on track in his return from injury. This team is ready.
Kansas City Chiefs: Vulnerable
The Chiefs feel more vulnerable than they have in years, with a thinner roster and real concerns about Patrick Mahomes' health after knee surgery, even if he remains one of the league's elite quarterbacks.
Las Vegas Raiders: Carefree
It's a low-stress, exciting time to back the Raiders, who have most of the pieces in place but zero expectations to contend in Fernando Mendoza's rookie season.
Los Angeles Chargers: High-stakes
It's Year 7 for Justin Herbert and Year 3 for Jim Harbaugh, and the division is wide open. It feels a bit like now or never for a team that put all the chips in by adding Mike McDaniel to the staff.
NFC East

Dallas Cowboys: Urgent
Typical in Cowboys camp, but that's especially the case ahead of what could be a make-or-break year for this core (and possibly staff as well) after a defensive facelift in the offseason.
New York Giants: Regenerated
New venerable coach, intriguing young weapons at the offensive skill positions gearing up for breakout seasons, and a defense that has been rebuilt. This franchise should feel rejuvenated.
Philadelphia Eagles: Intriguing
Primarily due to the presence of Makai Lemon, the departure of A.J. Brown and the addition of incoming offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. Things are far from stale in Philly.
Washington Commanders: Murky
What should we expect from Jayden Daniels after a tough, injury-marred sophomore campaign? The defense has been overhauled, and there are two new coordinators flanking Dan Quinn. A lot up in the air here entering 2026.
NFC North

Chicago Bears: Evolving
This has been an offseason of small-ish tweaks to a team that is already on track with Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams. Cautious optimism in Chicago.
Detroit Lions: Pressing
This Dan Campbell-led core has been competitive for half a decade but went in the wrong direction last season. The clock is ticking, rapidly.
Green Bay Packers: Stable
Same old, same old with Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love. Even with some major defensive changes and questions surrounding Micah Parsons' health status, there is a high floor here.
Minnesota Vikings: Praying
Hands clenched, knees on the floor, and an attempt to manifest success from either Kyler Murray or J.J. McCarthy. Because if they can get strong quarterback play, the sky is the limit for this team.
NFC South

Atlanta Falcons: Guarded
New coach, new potential starting quarterback and plenty of talent on both sides of the ball. But there are still so many question marks surrounding this team that the vibe falls short of unbridled optimism.
Carolina Panthers: Enlightening
The fog of the last few years is lifting as the Panthers move closer to a definitive answer on the future of Bryce Young and Dave Canales. This year will be revealing, and they'll be a contender or a rebuilder in 2027.
New Orleans Saints: Optimistic
This one could obviously be applied to many teams, but it fits the Saints best. First full season for Kellen Moore and Tyler Shough together, and they've rebuilt that offense the right way. They went 4-1 to finish 2025.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Stubborn
The ceiling isn't Super Bowl-level, but the veteran Bucs refuse to tear it down. They're rebuilding on the fly while only tweaking their core. It's just hard to imagine any of it will matter for a team that went 2-7 down the stretch in 2025.
NFC West

Arizona Cardinals: Bleak
When Jacoby Brissett is penciled in as your tentative QB1 and he's already in a tense contract dispute over a raise, it's hard not to see the whole situation as a mess.
Los Angeles Rams: Invincible
They outscored their opponents by more than 10 points a game last year, and now the defense has been bolstered dramatically. They'll enter camp as a heavy Super Bowl fave featuring the reigning MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. It's got to feel nice.
San Francisco 49ers: Cursed
The injuries from the last couple of seasons have surely done a number on this team's vibes. A lot of that health stuff is still lingering, in addition to the never-ending Brandon Aiyuk saga.
Seattle Seahawks: Celebratory
Which can easily become "hungover." Be careful, guys.
