Kings Use 'LeBron James Kid' to Campaign for DeMarcus Cousins All-Star Votes
In an attempt to send DeMarcus "Boogie" Cousins to the NBA All-Star Game, the Sacramento Kings elicited the help of "LeBron James Kid."
The boy received internet notoriety after a Vine in which he recited the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar's name repeatedly:
Sacramento attempted to exploit that fame by having him reveal his real favorite player: Cousins.
According to Thursday's NBA.com ballot update, the big man ranks sixth in votes among the Western Conference's frontcourt players. Despite averaging a career-high 28 points per game, Boogie has received fewer than half the votes garnered by Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia.
Yet Pachulia, second in frontcourt votes behind teammate Kevin Durant, is unlikely to participate in the New Orleans festivities. The NBA diminished the people's power for this year's All-Star Game, allotting fans 50 percent of the vote instead of full control. NBA players and media will split the other half.
Nevertheless, Cousins still faces a steep climb for his first-ever starting nod. If LeBron James Kid were given the honor of announcing the West's starting frontcourt, he would likely say the names of Durant, Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis.
