Brandon Jennings Fined for Inappropriate Language Toward an Official
New York Knicks guard Brandon Jennings was fined $15,000 on Sunday for "directing inappropriate language toward a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner" after being ejected from his team's 115-87 loss to the Boston Celtics on Friday.
Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders shared the NBA's announcement:
According to Kyle Hightower of the Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com), Jennings was ejected after picking up consecutive technical fouls in the fourth quarter.
Hightower noted the Knicks were called for six technical fouls during the loss, and Carmelo Anthony was also ejected from the game.
Anthony's ejection came after he picked up two technicals when arguing with referee Tony Brothers over a loose-ball foul in the second quarter. New York fell behind by as many as 30 points without his presence on the court.
Jennings' fine is another frustrating blow for a Knicks team that has failed to live up to expectations with a 3-6 record on the season. New York, which has given up more than 100 points in eight of its nine contests, hasn't appeared to be a squad that can challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers and other playoff contenders in the Eastern Conference.
Jennings is averaging 7.0 points per game in the early going behind 33.9 percent shooting from the field and 29.6 percent shooting from three-point range. It has been just nine games, but both of those percentages would mark career lows if they hold throughout the season.
