Chad Johnson Announces He Will Join Browns' Training Camp in Non-Playing Role
Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson will be joining the Cleveland Browns in an unknown capacity at the team's training camp in late July, as he tweeted Tuesday:
The tweet came one day after Johnson revealed he was going to ask Browns head coach Hue Jackson if he could join the team's coaching staff:

He also tweeted to the Browns in March, asking if he could join the team's staff to help the receivers. And he noted on Monday: "I can send my resume (19 hour long DVD) of precise route running & unorthodox releases in man to man."
Browns rookie wideout Corey Coleman appeared very open to the idea:
Johnson, 38, last appeared in an NFL game in 2011 with the New England Patriots. He signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2012 offseason but was cut in August of that year after he was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
He spent his first 10 years with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he was a six-time Pro Bowler and two-time Associated Press first-team All-NFL selection. He led the NFL in receiving yards in 2006 (1,369) and finished his career with 766 receptions for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.
He was a talented player on the field and a brash, colorful personality off of it, which at times undermined just how good he was at his craft in his prime.
As Conor Orr of NFL.com noted, "Perhaps he turned some people off with the Ochocinco lifestyle, but there was no doubt that he was an insanely crisp route runner and one of the fastest game-speed receivers of the era."
In that regard, Johnson has a unique perspective on the wide receiver position, making him an intriguing option as a consultant. But he doesn't have NFL coaching experience, so it will be fascinating to learn what role the Browns envision for him later this month.
