Dareus Among League's Best Defensive Tackles
Dareus was one of the NFL's premier defensive players during the 2014 season, recording a career-high 10 sacks and helping lead the Bills to their first winning record since 2004.
Last year was not as successful for Dareus, who set a career low with two sacks in 15 games under Ryan. The two butted heads over how Ryan was utilizing him in the scheme, and the defense went from being ranked fourth in 2014 to 19th in 2015.
Despite the drop in production, Dareus' absence leaves a huge hole for the Bills. He's a great asset as a pass-rusher and has the second-most run stops among defensive tackles over the last three years, per Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus.
Corbin Bryant is a solid backup who started a career-high 10 games last season and the first five games this season, but he's mostly just a body to occupy space and open things up for other players to make plays.
Dareus is a rare defensive tackle who can disrupt every facet of an offense when he's operating at full strength.
