Brandon Boykin Released by Panthers: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
The Carolina Panthers announced on Monday they have released four-year veteran cornerback Brandon Boykin less than two months after signing him to a one-year, $840,000 deal, per Spotrac.
The Panthers originally brought in Boykin to play nickel corner when Bene Benwikere was promoted to an every-snap corner, per ESPN.com's David Newton.
His signing also seemed to be a good decision because of Pro Bowl corner Josh Norman's franchise-tag drama that resulted in his release and eventual signing with the Washington Redskins just three days before the 2016 NFL draft.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Carolina responded by drafting cornerbacks James Bradberry out of Samford in the second round, Daryl Worley out of West Virginia in the third and Zack Sanchez out of Oklahoma in the fifth.
So far, they've been impressing head coach Ron Rivera, who told Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer on Saturday he was "very happy" with what he's seen from the trio of draft picks.
Their early success might have been why Boykin was expendable despite recording eight interceptions in his first four years in the league with the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers.
He voiced his dissatisfaction soon after he found out he'd be looking for a new team:
At 25 years old, Boykin could be entering the best years of his career, and another team should snap him up fairly quickly.
Boykin was one of the best slot corners in the game in 2013 with the Eagles, recording six interceptions along with 17 passes defended. Yet he's always had difficulty getting substantial playing time.
He's only started seven games out of a possible 64, and according to Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus, he played just 23 snaps in the first 12 weeks of the 2015 season with the Steelers.
For teams around the league that are looking for an upgrade at the slot corner position, Boykin is an attractive option moving forward and could find a new home where he'll receive plenty of playing time.
