Brooklyn Nets vs. Houston Rockets: Live Score, Highlights and Analysis
In a hard fought effort from both teams, the Brooklyn Nets edged out the Houston Rockets at home in a wild thriller that featured plenty of turnovers, slam dunks and crazy bench reactions.
The Nets controlled the pace of the game early, outscoring the Rockets by seven in the first quarter. They followed that up by outscoring the Rockets 26-22 in the second quarter to improve their lead to 11 points at the half.
On a night where their defense and focus were lacking, the Rockets bench and three-point shooting kept them in the game late. Coming off the bench, Marcus Thornton and Corey Brewer combined for 54 of the Rockets’ 105 points, and the Rockets as a team shot 43 percent from behind the arc.
Neither team was able to effectively hold on to the ball, though, which led to a combined 48 turnovers in 48 minutes.
James Harden was a no-show for the Rockets, ending the game with 10 points on 2-for-9 shooting, three rebounds, nine assists and seven turnovers.
The Rockets did make a push late to pull within one, but the Nets never really let go—holding on to win off a questionable travel-rebound by point guard Jarrett Jack.
Unable to get back to .500 for the season, the Rockets fall to 10-12 and simultaneously break their three game winning streak.
The Nets, on the other hand, successfully complete the season sweep of the Houston Rockets—their first sweep of the Rockets since the 2001-02 season. The Nets improve to 6-15 on the season with the win against Houston.
Both teams will look to improve on critical late-game mistakes in the weeks ahead. Turnovers and better all-around defense will definitely be a focal point moving forward for both squads.
Houston will stay on the road to face the Washington Wizards (9-10) tomorrow night.; Brooklyn will stay at home to face the 1-21 Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.
