Trey Williams to Patriots: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
According to ESPN's Field Yates, the New England Patriots claimed running back Trey Williams off of waivers on Tuesday after the Dallas Cowboys waived him on Monday.
Williams, who first signed as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Redskins before signing with Dallas on Nov. 4, has not recorded a single rushing statistic during his rookie season.
The Patriots seem to be looking for more options in their backfield, as they have not seen the same kind of production out of the position after Dion Lewis went down with a torn ACL.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Lewis was developing into a vital option as a dual threat out of the backfield, recording 622 total yards in seven games. More than half of them came via the air as he and quarterback Tom Brady developed a solid relationship in the Patriots offense.
Brady spoke with the media after Lewis' injury, per MassLive.com's Kevin Duffy.
"It's such a physical game and he's such a special player," Brady said. "Hopefully he's OK. I don't know exactly what it is, but we'll hope for the best."
Against the Denver Broncos on Sunday night, the Patriots' rushing attack gained just 39 total yards on the ground, with starter LeGarrette Blount gaining just 27. No. 2 back Brandon Bolden played the role of Lewis well in terms of receiving, gaining 84 yards, but it wasn't enough in a losing effort.
Duffy commented on Williams' assets:
As a senior at Texas A&M last season, Williams averaged 6.9 yards per rush along with 16 receptions in 12 games. The Patriots also have James White along with Bolden to back up Blount. But both of them have seen limited time.
The Providence Journal's Mark Daniels anticipates Williams to be a third-down back, which could spell trouble for Bolden and White moving forward.
