Roethlisberger Has Concussion Despite Conflicting Reports
Tuesday, Dec. 1
Head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters that Roethlisberger has a concussion despite the quarterback's insistence that he does not.
ESPN's Adam Schefter added clarification on Roethlisberger's status:
"Roethlisberger did suffer a concussion Sunday, per team official. Test results showed it today. Roethlisberger took his Impact concussion test this morning and then minutes later did his radio show, on which he announced he did not have a concussion. But the results of his Impact test returned about 11:15 a.m., after the radio show appearance, and showed that Roethlisberger did in fact suffer a concussion. He will be in the protocol this week. But he does have a concussion and Steelers do not know yet whether he will be able to play Sunday night vs. Indianapolis.
"
Roethlisberger said, per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that he didn't have concussion symptoms but had issues with his peripheral vision, though the symptoms went away after the game.
Roethlisberger added that he felt like he made the right choice to report his symptoms, adding that he'll play through any injury except one to the brain.

Roethlisberger's Injury Troubles Continued vs. Seahawks
Roethlisberger missed four games early in the season after suffering a sprained MCL in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams. He returned in Week 8 as the Steelers took on the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals but went down one week later against the Oakland Raiders with a foot injury.
Despite concern Big Ben would miss time, he wound up replacing Landry Jones in Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns after Jones suffered a left ankle injury in the first quarter. It may not have been the ideal scenario for Roethlisberger's return, but Tomlin is confident in his decision.
The Steelers are fighting for one of the two AFC wild-card spots, though it has been an uphill battle because of key injuries this season. They have already lost running back Le'Veon Bell for the year with a torn MCL.
Roethlisberger's latest setback was just one more hurdle the Steelers have to overcome in 2015. The team is still hanging around, but at some point, the fight becomes futile when things seem to be working against you.
