NFL Midseason Odds Review: Patriots Highlight 1st-Half Best Bets

OddsShark.comNov 4, 2015

As the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots (7-0) chase another perfect 16-0 season along with the three other unbeaten teams, it’s time to look at the best and worst bets near the halfway point of the 2015 NFL season.

The Patriots have been outstanding following their run to the big game a year ago, going 4-1-2 against the spread with quarterback Tom Brady the favorite to win NFL MVP honors at 1-3 odds.

New England is also the 13-5 favorite to repeat as Super Bowl champion in 2016.

But the other three undefeated teams have also performed well versus the line in joining the Pats at 7-0, with the Cincinnati Bengals leading the way by going 6-0-1 ATS so far.

The latest NFL future odds have the Bengals at 14-1 to win the Super Bowl and 11-2 to win the AFC, sitting behind New England and the Denver Broncos in the conference.

The Broncos are coming off a dominant 29-10 win over the previously unbeaten Green Bay Packers (6-1) last week and have gone 5-1-1 ATS.

Denver is 8-1 to win the Super Bowl and 4-1 to win the AFC with a huge road matchup against the Patriots looming on November 29 that could decide home-field advantage.

In the NFC, the Packers remain the favorites despite losing to the Broncos at 11-5 odds, and they are also 9-2 to win the Super Bowl.

But Green Bay will need to find a way to hand the Carolina Panthers their first loss in Week 9 to remain the top team in the conference.

The Packers have won their last five games following a loss according to the Odds Shark NFL Database, and the NFL betting odds have them as small road chalk.

The Panthers have been the top team in the NFC South with a 5-2 ATS mark and avoided their first setback on Monday night when they edged the Indianapolis Colts 29-26 in overtime.

Carolina is 9-2 to win the NFC and 9-1 to win the Super Bowl, also trailing the NFC West-leading Arizona Cardinals (6-2), who are 4-1 and 8-1, respectively.

The two-time defending NFC West champion Seattle Seahawks (4-4) have been one of the most disappointing teams in the first half, going 2-5-1 ATS, but they are still in the mix at 15-2 to win the conference and 14-1 to win the Super Bowl.

The only teams that have been worse than the Seahawks covering the number this season have been the Detroit Lions (1-7) and Baltimore Ravens (2-6). The Lions have gone 1-7 ATS to match their straight-up record while the Ravens are 1-6-1 through the first eight games.
