Bray Wyatt's Renewed Rivalry with Undertaker and Kane Is Good for WWE

Tom ClarkOct 28, 2015

Bray Wyatt is leading the buzzards and this time, the feast includes both The Undertaker and his storyline brother Kane.  The Brothers of Destruction have been destroyed by The Wyatt Family at Hell in a Cell and Monday Night Raw; now fans can only wait to see what happens next.

Whatever fate awaits both Taker and Kane, the fact is this angle is good for WWE.

This is The Eater of Worlds that many have wanted to see for a long time now, the one WWE promised fans upon his debut.  This is the Wyatt who moves with a purpose, the one who has a mysterious agenda and schemes to achieve his goals.

The riddles he speaks are more than just promos; they're dark omens of destruction, ones that send shivers down the spine of each fan watching.  This is the man who deserves attention because he demands it, because to look away from him is to miss something.

He makes the show entertaining, and he makes it look easy.

Putting him in this spot is perfect, and it has everything to do with the two legends his family laid out on WWE programming.  Though he's been down this road before with each man, this is a new start for all involved.  The truth is Wyatt needs targets that are as big, as intense as he can be, and there are no better targets than The Brothers of Destruction.

Wyatt consistently draws comparisons to Taker specifically, and he has from nearly the beginning.

It's Wyatt's approach to the game, the nature of his character.  The Eater of Worlds inhabits the same dark place as The Deadman, and it's that shared existence that made fans believe the two were associated with each other.

Some have even referred to Wyatt as The Undertaker of his generation and on the surface, it's a logical assumption to make.

But this is not about Bray replacing Taker; this is more about WWE featuring a character and allowing that character to naturally evolve over time.  Wyatt must do more than just smile and assert his will through one hollow speech after another.

He must take the next step, and hell's favorite sons are a big part of that.

Understanding that Bray is part of that evil brotherhood is to understand that eventually, he will feel the need to dominate.  Undertaker and Kane are quite simply in the way, and Wyatt must eliminate them if he is to take over the underworld they call home.

This is how Bray's character must evolve, and to see him succeed proves WWE is creative and still capable of creating stars who can compete with the top guys.  NXT is providing one talent after another to the main roster, but none of them with the exception of The Shield has been able to truly break through to the main event consistently.

Wyatt must reach that level, and it must happen now.

There is no better time for him to make this move.  No one knows how long Undertaker or Kane will continue as active performers in the ring.  Eventually, both men will move on from the squared circle and when they do, a massive hole will be left.  To fill that hole, WWE must keep pushing forward with the stars it has, and Wyatt is one of those stars.

This renewed rivalry is also a change of pace compared to what fans have seen recently from both The Phenom and The Big Red Machine.  Undertaker has been embroiled in his feud with Brock Lesnar, and Kane has been mired in a war with Seth Rollins.  Now that both of those angles appear to be over, fans are ready to move on.

With Survivor Series coming up on November 22, all of this could be leading to a major main event.  If The Wyatt Family found a fifth member, it could oppose Undertaker, Kane and three other stars.  It could very well be viewed as one of the event's biggest matches of all time, especially considering Taker and Kane may not have many more outings together in the ring.

Despite what happens from here, there is no doubting WWE made the right move with this storyline.  Very few can share the stage with Undertaker and Kane at the same time and right now, only The Wyatt Family fits the bill.  Bray is on the right track with this, and now WWE must keep things moving in the right direction for him to get where they need him to be.
