Kevin Na and Emiliano Grillo needed not one but two playoff holes to determine the winner of the 2015 Frys.com Open, and when all was said and done, Grillo came out on top with a birdie on the second hole in sudden death Sunday.

Both Na and Grillo finished one stroke ahead of Jason Bohn, Justin Thomas and Tyrone Van Aswegen. You can view the full leaderboard below:

Bohn looked to have one hand on the title with three holes remaining. Both Thomas and Van Aswegen were in the clubhouse as Bohn approached the 16th green with a one-shot lead. Only Grillo and Na could reasonably catch Bohn at that stage.

Then Bohn made a mess of his third shot on No. 16, as the PGA Tour showed:

The 42-year-old settled for a bogey, putting him in a five-way tie for first. PGATour.com's Brian Wacker thought the mistake echoed the crazy finish of the Michigan State-Michigan college football game Saturday night:

That opened the door for Grillo, who birdied No. 18 to move to 15 under par for the tournament. He did so in dramatic fashion as well, finding the bottom of the cup on a 24-foot putt.

For about 10 minutes, Grillo had sole possession of the lead, and it looked like he might steal the title. But Na birdied the final hole, too, forcing a playoff between the two.

On the first playoff hole, Grillo was again moments away from wrapping up the Frys.com Open. The 23-year-old needed to sink what was a glorified gimme putt, and the championship would have been his right there. Sometimes, those easy putts can be the most difficult. The PGA Tour provided a replay:

Like Wacker, Will Gray of Golf Channel opted for a college football reference to describe Grillo's poor putt:

Grillo settled for a par instead, and Na followed suit to force a second playoff hole.

Na went for broke on his second shot, pulling out the driver. The gambit failed miserably as his shot hooked into the rough and left him with an incredibly difficult lie just behind a tree. Na's approach somehow managed to reach the green, though, but it kept bouncing off the fringe and into the rough.

"If I was to do it over again, I'd still hit driver," Na said, per the PGA Tour.

Grillo didn't need to attempt such heroics. He placed his shots well and set himself up with a makable birdie putt for the title. This time around, the Argentine pro hit the target.

"I didn’t want to be the guy who almost hit Rory McIlroy this week," Grillo said after his win, alluding to his tee shot on No. 17 in the third round, per Ryan Lavner of Golf Channel. "I wanted people to know me because I have the trophy."

Between nearly striking the No. 3 player in the world with his drive and winning the tournament, Grillo has had a whirlwind couple of days.
