Tuck's Absence Will Create Major Hole in Raiders Defense

Tuck recorded only one tackle before leaving in the fourth quarter against the Broncos. The former Pro Bowler had been battling through shoulder pain for much of the season but appeared to aggravate the injury.

Rookie Mario Edwards, who started his first NFL game Sunday, stands to see the most playing time in Tuck's absence. The Florida State product recorded six total tackles (three solo) and had a half-sack in the 16-10 loss. Projected by many as a first-round choice, Edwards dropped to the Raiders at No. 35 and may thrive with a chance to prove himself.

Tuck, meanwhile, has recorded 14 tackles and one sack through the first five weeks. Pro Football Focus ranks him 11th among 3-4 defensive ends so far this season, so Edwards will have pretty big shoes to fill. Still, with Tuck's contract ending after the 2015 season, it's worth speculating whether we've seen the last of him in an Oakland uniform.
