WWE Hell in a Cell 2015: Early Predictions for Matches on the Card

Aaron BowerOct 14, 2015

To date, WWE has eight matches scheduled for its Hell in a Cell show, all of which generate various levels of excitement as the show approaches.

The headline bouts featuring Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins will grab most of the attention, while there's still surely a United States Championship match featuring John Cena to be added, too.

The other end of the card offers less hype and intrigue but features matches which will all play a compelling and interesting part in WWE's charge toward the latter part of the year and Survivor Series.

Will Roman Reigns see off Bray Wyatt? Will The New Day continue to rock after HIAC? And will we get a new WWE world heavyweight champion?

Let's take an early glance at all of those questions with some early predictions for this year's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

Pre-Show: Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton vs. Luke Harper and Braun Strowman

1 of 7

Incredibly, it seems as if Dean Ambrose, a guy who was in the running to become world heavyweight champion just a few short months ago, will be wrestling on the pre-show at Hell in a Cell.

The same fall from grace is also applicable to Randy Orton, another guy who was feuding with Seth Rollins in the not-too-distant past for the world title.

But here they'll be squaring off against Luke Harper and Braun Strowman in a match that certifies that WWE has no idea what to do with two of its biggest babyfaces at the moment.

They're playing a supporting role to Roman Reigns' headline bout with Bray Wyatt, and if that match is the end of the feud, this one should also be the opportunity for Ambrose and Orton to move on, too.

As for the match prediction itself? You get the feeling something dramatic could happen; perhaps the two babyfaces could turn on each other, resulting in one turning heel and setting up a feud between themselves for the latter part of the year.

Or perhaps Chris Jericho, mysteriously absent since returning at Night of Champions, may come back as a heel, cost Ambrose a win and set up a rivalry there.

Either way, Harper and Strowman will likely win.

Charlotte vs. Nikki Bella

2 of 7

Once again, the Divas Revolution has stuttered along in recent weeks, which means that Charlotte's match against Nikki Bella is likely to be somewhere near the beginning of the card at Hell in a Cell.

The fact there's been precious little interaction between the two leads you to assume it'll be a short, straightforward match, with the onus probably on what is happening elsewhere.

It's time for Charlotte to face a new challenge from someone else after Nikki's lengthy reign, and although The Bella Twins will remain in and around the forefront of the division, don't expect either of them to claim the title anytime soon.

The most obvious and exciting challenge for Charlotte would be Sasha Banks. Whether she gets her shot in the coming weeks is up in the air, but as far as Hell in a Cell goes, expect Charlotte to retain her title and see off Nikki Bella.

Kevin Owens vs. Ryback

3 of 7

Much like the Divas Championship bout at Hell in a Cell, the Intercontinental Championship doesn't seem to have a great deal going for it at the moment.

Kevin Owens is still a pretty strong champion, and hopes will still be high that he can flourish with the belt around his waist, but he desperately needs a new challenge.

He and Ryback have managed to just about keep their rivalry alive, but the whole feud lacks any sort of storyline development or any genuine heat that fans can get interested in.

This isn't a great time for the IC title, which is why Owens needs to retain and look for someone new to feud with.

There are all sorts of options for KO moving forward, but there's only one possible outcome at Hell in a Cell: an Owens victory.

The New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz

4 of 7

One of the greatest tag teams in pro wrestling history and WWE's biggest success story of the past few months will lock horns again at Hell in a Cell, and of all the matches, this feels like one of the biggest.

There seems to be no stopping The New Day at the moment, which is now being given the creative freedom to open and close shows with real gusto, which only enhances its status as one of the most popular acts in the company.

The one downside to that is its reduced interaction with The Dudley Boyz of late, but their past chemistry will surely still be intact at Hell in a Cell.

Will Bubba Ray and D-Von manage to claim their 10th WWE tag title reign here? It's tough to call, especially when you consider that WWE might have bigger plans for The New Day than the tag division.

But with Tables, Ladders & Chairs, that pay-per-view that was coined from The Dudley Boyz' brilliant matches with the likes of Edge and Christian, on the horizon, perhaps it will hold off a win for the nine-time champs until winter.

The New Day will win, with a hint of controversy, naturally.

Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

5 of 7

Another bout of Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt may not seem all that exciting on first glance.

But when you factor in a couple of key segments the two have had lately and the fact it's inside Hell in a Cell, it promises to be one of the standout matches on the entire card.

The way they closed Raw a few weeks ago (above) was really impressive and showed that when WWE frees the shackles from these two, sparks can fly.

You would hope Hell in a Cell means that Reigns and Wyatt literally throw everything they have at each other and produce one of the cell's great matches.

As long as there's no controversy and one of these two guys is allowed to end the rivalry cleanly, it should be a thriller.

Who needs the win more, though? You almost feel Reigns' need is greater, but this might just be the toughest bout of the night to predict. Expect Reigns to just edge Wyatt in a thriller.

Seth Rollins vs. Kane

6 of 7

It's difficult to know what to think about the upcoming WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and Kane at Hell in a Cell.

On the one hand, throwing someone fresh like Kane into the title picture is a nice dynamic for WWE to have, but Rollins' booking has been so shambolic lately that it's difficult to work out who has the edge here.

The champion looks more vulnerable than he ever has before, but it's still difficult to imagine him dropping the belt to Kane in any circumstances whatsoever.

The fact Kane pinned the champion on Raw this past week should have given weight to the fact that Kane could be champion, but it's probably had the adverse effect for most fans.

Kane has his win against Rollins, and it's unlikely it'll be followed up by another. When it does come to someone taking the belt from Seth in the next few months, it just doesn't feel like it could be Kane.

That's not meant to be disrespectful to Kane, who has once again proved himself to be one of WWE's most adaptable and reliable workers in this feud. Most would love him to have one more run with a major title, but will WWE take that chance? Probably not.

Rollins will win.

Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

7 of 7

The much-billed third meeting of Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker (if you conveniently forget their feud of 2002, which also ended inside Hell in a Cell) is the bout everyone wants to see this year.

The rivalry is tied at one win each, and it's a match that's happening much earlier than everyone expected. Interestingly, the anticipated date of WrestleMania 32 isn't to be, which clears both men up for something different before then.

The hype and build up to the match will take a significant step forward on Monday when both Lesnar and the Deadman appear on Raw, and it's important WWE establish some boundaries between their characters.

Lesnar has gradually morphed into a babyface via fan demand for him over the past few months, not to mention the fact that he was feuding with the company's top heel, Seth Rollins.

So WWE must continue the storyline development from SummerSlam and have Taker work Raw and HIAC as a heel.

That will set things up nicely for Hell in a Cell, and there, the odds surely point to a second decisive victory for Lesnar.

He emerged victorious back in 2002 after a brutal and bloody bout inside the cell. Things won't be that graphic or intense this year, but the same result will transpire.
