Andy Green Will Reportedly Be Named Padres Manager
The San Diego Padres were one of the biggest disappointments during the 2015 season, and their underwhelming play cost manager Bud Black his job. Now, according to Bleacher Report's Scott Miller, the team is set to name Arizona Diamondbacks third base coach Andy Green as its new manager.
Green wasn't the team's only candidate. On Oct. 13, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported the Padres were showing interest in former Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire.
Miller added that both Gardenhire and Pittsburgh Pirates third base coach Rick Sofield interviewed twice in San Diego, but the team opted to hire Green instead.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Padres general manager A.J. Preller has undoubtedly been in a difficult situation making this hire. San Diego will be paying big money to Matt Kemp, Craig Kimbrel and James Shields next year. Plus, Preller traded a number of the organization's best prospects, so it's not as if a lot of talent will be coming through the pipeline in the next season or two.
Fans surely still expect the team to contend in 2016, heaping even more pressure on Preller to get this one right. Hopefully Green is the man to turn it all around.
