The Divas Revolution Must Feature Sasha Banks to Truly Succeed
The Divas Revolution has seen some exciting highs, but recently some disappointing lows, too. The concept was intriguing at first, as NXT Divas had the opportunity to make a splash on the main roster, while established talents had a bigger opportunity to shine.
But the concept has perhaps not been the success that many fans believed it would be. WWE's intentions may have been good, but without Sasha Banks in the mix, this storyline has no chance of working.
Banks has all but disappeared from this storyline. She was featured prominently at first and had as much TV time as Charlotte and Becky Lynch did. The NXT trio took the main roster by storm, and fans all over the world were enjoying what came from it.

They were three fresh talents with three different approaches, and all three were top-notch performers. It was everything fans had wanted from the Divas division and much more.
But while Charlotte excelled, Banks seemed to lose a step.
The Diva wars were fought on even ground for a long time, but eventually Team PCB came out on top. Team B.A.D. began to fall behind, which meant Banks did as well. Despite how good she is in the ring and her impressive ability to get over in front of any crowd, Banks is becoming irrelevant in this storyline.
The curious part of this, however, is the fact that she has never looked better in the ring.
Her match against Bayley at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn should be considered a Match of the Year candidate. The work they put in and the story they told left the crowd breathless and on its feet. There was no doubting that the bout was one for the ages and should have been the main event of the night.
WWE apparently agreed with that sentiment, as the rematch will indeed be the main event at the upcoming NXT TakeOver: Respect on October 7.
Banks has proved her value time and again. Her talent is obvious, and her skill is undeniable. She completely embraces her character and lives it to the fullest every time she's on camera. Her performances against Charlotte in NXT would have been more than enough to beef up her main-roster resume, but the truth is that she's still going.
Banks has perhaps not even scratched the surface of how much she can do or how good she can possibly be. Yet she's nowhere to be found.
Therein lies the real issue with the Divas Revolution: It has become less about showcasing the talent and more about elevating one woman up to the top.
Charlotte is a great hand and one of the best women the WWE has ever seen. She will surely be mentioned in the same breath as Trish Stratus at some point, and it will be well-deserved praise. However, fans did not support her the way WWE likely thought they would.
She was good in her role, but by the time she made it to the Divas Championship, it was a hard sell. Fans seemed to appreciate her win over Nikki Bella and respected her because of the hard work she put in.
But one promo from Paige changed everything.
Paige's "pipe bomb" was more destructive than it should have been. It succeeded only in further complicating the storyline and undermining Charlotte's character. Since fans were already not that attached to her, Charlotte began to lose her pop and came off like an undeserving champion.
Had Banks been more of a presence in this angle, perhaps things would not have gone the way they did. Her rivalry with Charlotte in NXT put her on the map and made her a star. The two had such great chemistry in the ring that it seemed like an obvious move to reignite their feud on the main roster.
But that's not what happened. Instead, Charlotte could possibly face Nikki Bella in a rematch at Hell in a Cell, while Banks tries to regain the NXT Women's Championship from Bayley. Fans may have mixed feelings about the first match, but they know exactly what they will get from the second.
Banks deserves more than she's getting. She is still a major star in NXT, but that has not translated to her spot on the main roster. She is a natural on the mic and great worker in the ring; she offers the complete package. She is marketable, highly entertaining and the perfect antagonist for Charlotte.
Banks is ready right now. She is the revolution. But she is still not being used to her full potential, and until she is, the Divas Revolution will not succeed.
