Dustin Pedroia Injury: Updates on Red Sox Star's Hamstring and Return
Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia was activated off the disabled list and will bat second against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, according to Ian Browne of MLB.com.
He was placed on the disabled list on July 25 due to a lingering hamstring issue which he had been battling since the end of June.
Pedroia didn't take part in any minor league rehab games prior to his return, as Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal noted.

Browne provided more comments from Torey Lovullo on the second baseman's recovery on Sept. 4:
"Dustin is hitting all his check points aggressively. It's getting close for him and we're all in it with him. We're all excited by what we're seeing and what we're hearing. He's putting on spikes. He's aggressively running the bases. He's continuing to run flat to build up some endurance in the outfield, pole to pole. He walks in after his work day and is really, really excited. That's nice to see.
"
On Aug. 20, Scott Barboza of ESPN reported the results of an MRI forced Pedroia's return date to be pushed back. Barboza added that Pedroia said he was "ready to go," but the MRI results didn't allow him to begin a running program at that time.
It seems the hamstring had been influencing his play as well. Pedroia had recorded just one hit in his past 22 at-bats over the last six games before heading back to the disabled list.
