Manchester United Transfer News: Big Signing Looms, Pedro, Thomas Muller Latest
Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez is reportedly weighing up a move to Manchester United, but his team-mate Sergio Busquets hopes the Catalan star remains with Luis Enrique's treble-winning side, reported by Ian Ladyman of the MailOnline.
James Robson of the Manchester Evening News suggests that, despite adding Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin to his squad, United boss Louis van Gaal is still due a huge capture this summer:
Guardian writer Rafael Honigstein doesn't believe this man will be Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller, however, a player who remains indispensable to the club.
The Red Devils have made a €100 million (£70 million) offer for the German forward, according to Bild (h/t Jamie Jackson of the Guardian), but Honigstein indicates this won't make a difference, as told to talkSPORT's Hawksbee and Jacobs show:
"I don’t think there’s any realistic chance Bayern Munich will let Thomas Muller leave. There’s even a suggestion that the latest bid from Manchester United was leaked by Bayern, just to say, "we are Bayern, the bids are coming in and we are saying no regardless."
If there was something serious going on they would be very careful to keep it quiet because politically it’s dynamite. If they let Muller go, there would be riots in the streets of Munich.
"

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added to the suggestion money isn't a factor in United's attempt to sign the player, tweeted by Alex Shaw of ESPN FC:
Van Gaal is a believer in Muller's ability—having brought the player into Bayern's first team during his tenure at the Allianz Arena—and is the type of manager who appreciates the reliability of such a player. The 25-year-old has netted 13 Bundesliga goals in each of his last three seasons, per WhoScored.com.
Pedro, who can also play anywhere across the front three, appears to be the most likely option right now. He's certainly the cheapest.
The Spaniard's buyout clause is set at £22 million, reported by the Telegraph's Mark Ogden, a measly total for someone who has won everything across club and international football.
Busquets has discussed the situation with his colleague and hopes he remains at the Camp Nou, per Ladyman:
"Yes I have spoken to him but I won't tell you what he said. It was a private conversation. I would want him to stay, I would love him to stay. He is a friend of mine and it will be his final decision. He wants to play more and get more minutes. That's what he wants.
But we are in a team of great players and it's hard for him. Finally it will be his decision but I hope he stays.
"

Enrique isn't going to push Pedro out of the door. The player still contributed six goals and six assists in La Liga last term, per WhoScored, despite largely remaining on the bench due to Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez ripping through every opposition put in front of them.
Robson admits there is every chance Pedro will be a United player next season:
He perhaps isn't the "marquee" signing many would expect, so even if Pedro arrives, United supporters will crave more.
A traditional striker is needed, while a world-class centre-back is essential if the club are to improve on last season's fourth-placed finish.
