Liverpool Transfer News: Raheem Sterling to Win Big in Manchester City Rumours
Although Raheem Sterling’s reasons for wanting to leave Liverpool are apparently not financially motivated, the winger could be in line for a substantial windfall should he join Manchester City this summer.
According to Luke Edwards of the Daily Telegraph, the 20-year-old could pocket a whopping £4 million of his agent’s fee if the Reds do decide to sell for the £50 million fee they reportedly want for Sterling. The piece claims the England international would “benefit enormously” from any deal, though he has “strongly denied” his reason for wanting out of Anfield is money.
Edwards goes on to outline the current circumstances surrounding the player:
"City are thought to be on the verge of submitting a third bid for Sterling that is likely to come close to matching Liverpool’s valuation. City, who head out to Australia on tour this week, would like to ensure Sterling is given time to settle before the start of the new Premier League season.
Liverpool insist they do not want to sell Sterling and point out that he remains under contract with them for another two years, but are likely to accept there is no point forcing him to stay if their valuation is met.
"

The Reds have already spent handsomely in this offseason, with the likes of Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Danny Ings and Nathaniel Clyne all joining the Anfield side. They are acquisitions that seem to indicate the Merseysiders may be willing to strike a deal for their prized asset.
Here’s a look at how Sterling compared last season to Firmino, the player many are expecting to fill the void left by the England man’s potential departure, per Sky Sports News HQ:
While this would be a tremendous sweetener for Sterling, it’s a sum that would raise further questions about the staggering amounts young players earn in the modern game.
Before he departed for Los Angeles this summer, former Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard encouraged his former team-mate to be careful plotting his future, insisting young players “want it all too soon,” per David Maddock of the Daily Mirror. It’s certainly applicable to this situation: £4 million into the pocket of a 20-year-old is almost incomprehensible.

But Sterling, who has previously insisted he is not a “money-grabbing 20-year-old,” as noted by Edwards, will feel as though he can deliver on the expectations that will come with this kind of lucrative move.
As we can see here, courtesy of Squawka, the England star is one of the most enthralling young players in European football:
It’s something that seems to have been forgotten in the midst of this transfer saga. Sterling is, arguably, the best young talent on the continent and has all the attributes to become a superstar. But if he moves, with a wallet that’d be bursting at the seams and a fight on his hands for a spot in the City starting XI, there are bound to be some concerns.
Sterling is unashamedly ambitious, though, and he will feel he possesses the class to make a telling impact at the Etihad Stadium should a deal go through.
Providing his primary motivation is to win trophies, not to bolster his personal fortune, the winger will be well worth the outlay for the Manchester outfit.
