Liverpool Transfer News: Fabio Borini Wants England Stay, Moussa Sissoko Rumours

Tom SunderlandJul 5, 2015

Fabio Borini's stay in Liverpool looks likely to end this summer, but the Italy international wants to remain in the Premier League. It's also been revealed that the Reds lead the hunt to sign Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

According to Bleacher Report correspondent Adam Digby, a deal has already been agreed between Liverpool and Lazio worth up to €8 million, but Borini is reluctant to leave the English top flight:

Borini first came to England as a teenager in 2007, joining Chelsea's academy from Bologna and since going on to feature for Swansea City, as well as the Reds.

It would appear that nurturing period in the Premier League has rubbed off on the forward, and Bleacher Report's Andy Brassell believes Borini understands his future lies away from Anfield:

Having managed to make just 12 Premier League appearances last season and scoring a single goal in the process, Borini will be eager to ensure himself of first-team football, especially with Euro 2016 looming.

The player's agent, Marco De Marchi, spoke to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via Irish Independent) in June, stating Borini "feels like a lion in a cage" in Merseyside:

"

Fabio wants a new experience. We expected more consideration from Liverpool. There are teams from all over Europe interested in him. Top clubs in Europe are keen on him, from the Premier League to the Bundesliga and there also clubs in Italy, but many clubs in Italy have had coaching changes and that has slowed things down.

"
"

He has no preference, he just wants a team that gives him a clear chance to prove himself. Right now he feels like a lion in a cage.

"

Moving to Lazio could see Borini make a return to the Champions League if their qualification run proves successful, but the Bologna native could risk a Rome backlash, having previously played for rivals Roma.

Liverpool Lead the Way for Sissoko

Recent reports insist Liverpool are in prime position to sign Sissoko from the Magpies, even though they've already brought James Milner to Merseyside for free this summer.

Manager Brendan Rodgers may keep adding to his engine room in the wake of Steven Gerrard's departure, according to French newspaper L'Equipe (h/t Anthony Chapman of the Daily Express).

Chapman's report adds that Steve McClaren's side have PSV playmaker Georginio Wijnaldum picked out as Sissoko's replacement should the France international leave St. James' Park.

There is some debate regarding Liverpool's alleged interest in the box-to-box maestro, however, as Luke Edward of the Telegraph insists Rodgers' side have no intention of chasing Sissoko:

The 25-year-old has been open regarding his desire to play on the biggest stages in the past, but Newcastle will be eager to hold on to one of their leading stars this summer.

Sissoko spoke to French radio station RMC (via Goal's Tom Maston) in early June and was happy to talk about the supposed interest Chelsea have taken in his services:

"

Is he [Jose Mourinho] following my progress? According to what I am hearing, yes. He is one of the best managers in the world. He has won so many titles. Any player would love to be coached by this man. For the moment, I am coached by other people. If one day I have the chance to work under his guidance, I would be very happy.

For the moment, I am still at Newcastle and I feel good over there. There is no problem. After that, you can never be sure about what is going to happen. If I am to move, my future in the French national team will be part of my thinking. I will make the right choice. Champions League football? All players dream of playing in this competition. I hope to participate in it one day. I am patient. I am waiting for my time.

"

One thing for sure is that Sissoko is far from committed to spending the rest of his career in the north-east, seemingly more than open to moving to a bigger club should the opportunity present itself.

With Milner sure to form part of Rodgers' midfield crux alongside Jordan Henderson, Rodgers has a new stable of stars under his command, but Sissoko appears to be an option for the club should their interest be genuine.
