Manchester United Transfer News: Sergio Ramos' Decision Made, Latest Rumours
Real Madrid may have to face up to the reality of losing star defender Sergio Ramos this summer, with reports suggesting the supposed Manchester United target is “determined” to leave the Spanish capital.
That’s according to Jose Luis Calderon of Marca, who wrote that the 29-year-old’s decision to seek pastures new is “meditated” and “irrevocable,” not “hot-headed.” The piece goes on to say that although Ramos was unhappy with contract negotiations, there’s now much more behind his choice:
"Although it may break his heart, Ramos is prepared to do something that just a year ago was thought to be unthinkable: say goodbye to Real Madrid.
For Ramos this is a decision regarding his life. It's not a matter of negotiating for more money; the player needs a different scene, to make a fresh start somewhere else. The salary squabbles might have been the beginning of his thoughts to look for pastures new, but that is no longer an issue for the defender.
"

It is claimed that Ramos is furious with how he and his brother Rene have been painted as “mercenaries” by president Florentino Perez, whose relationship with the defender has now apparently reached “irreparable” status.
For Real this news will come as a major blow. The defender has grown into an integral part of the club’s back line in his decade at the Santiago Bernabeu and many had him earmarked to replace Iker Casillas as the club captain.

While that looks unlikely to happen at this point, Bleacher Report’s Spanish football expert Guillem Balague claimed Los Blancos still have little intention of selling their star defender:
Naturally, the news is a big positive for Manchester United, who have already had two bids rejected for the defender, as noted here by the Daily Telegraph.
For Louis van Gaal it’d be a major coup. Although he’s not a young player by any means, Ramos still has plenty of years left at the top and the positive attributes he would bring to this United team—dynamism, defensive acumen and a hardened winning mentality—would be a major catalyst to this team scaling the top of the Premier League table once again.

It’s a signing that the club’s former centre-back Rio Ferdinand would love to see happen:
According to Marca, Ramos is also wary of getting similar treatment from the Bernabeu faithful that Casillas was subjected to last season. The Spanish goalkeeper was booed at times, as he and the team both struggled for form.
Indeed, as we can see here courtesy of Bleacher Report UK, it looks as though the Madridistas have already begun turning on the former Sevilla man:
Per Mike Keegan of the MailOnline, with Real’s pursuit of United goalkeeper David De Gea widely reported this summer, and with both players apparently keen on trading places, you’d imagine some kind of common ground could potentially be reached between the two parties.

Bleacher Report’s Rob Blanchette thinks this is the way United should approach things, anyway:
After United spent big to bring Angel Di Maria, who struggled in his first Premier League season, in from Real Madrid last summer, there may be a hesitancy about doing so again. But in Ramos, the Red Devils would be getting a genuinely world-class talent and a player who would make an enormous difference to the club’s fortunes moving forward.
It’s not often that teams from the Premier League pinch key players off Los Blancos, so this would be a massive statement from United. With the player keen and the Madridistas now apparently happy to see the back of him, what was initially perceived as a fantasy transfer seems to be edging closer to becoming a reality.
