Vucevic Active vs. Lakers
Wednesday, Nov. 11
Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reported Vucevic will play against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Injuries Disrupting Vucevic's Development
Now in his fourth year with the Magic, Vucevic is averaging 15.6 points and 11.2 rebounds per game with a shooting percentage of 51.8. The 25-year-old made such an impression on the front office that he was rewarded with a four-year, $53 million contract extension before last season began.
Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins wrote a profile on Vucevic in which Clippers head coach Doc Rivers is quoted as saying, “He’s probably the best player in the league that nobody knows."
Vucevic has dealt with injuries in the past, missing 25 games two years ago due to ankle and Achilles problems and eight games last year due to a back injury.
The Magic are still rebuilding their roster three years after trading Howard to Houston. Vucevic is a foundational piece, along with others like Victor Oladipo and Aaron Gordon, but there's only so much that can be done with a young roster of players still finding their niche in the NBA.
Fortunately, it appears as though Vucevic escaped without suffering a significant setback and his return is welcomed.
