Le'Veon Bell Accepts Plea Deal on DUI, Marijuana Charges
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell, who was arrested in August and charged with possession of marijuana and a DUI, has reportedly accepted a plea deal.
According to Channel 11 News at WPXI.com, Bell "will enter a program for first-time offenders and he’ll be on probation for 15 months." Upon completion of the program and probation, his charges will be dropped.
It will be interesting to see how the NFL approaches any potential discipline for Bell. He faces a two-game suspension, according to a report in October from Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which is the punishment for a conviction or a plea agreement in a DUI case.
Whether the league hands down that suspension this season or waits until next year remains to be seen.
Losing Bell for two games would be a major blow to a Steelers squad that is currently 7-5 and fighting for its postseason life. Bell has been one of the best offensive players in the NFL this season, with 1,689 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns.
