Green Bay Packers vs. New Orleans Saints: Live Analysis for New Orleans

Zane BrownOct 26, 2014

For the first time this season, the New Orleans Saints will host a prime-time game, as they entertain the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.

The Saints will be attempting to bounce back from last week’s road loss to the Detroit Lions. New Orleans blew a 23-10 lead in the game’s final four minutes, and it returned home with a disappointing 2-4 record.

Fortunately for the Saints, they happen to play in one of the NFL’s weakest divisions, and thanks to the Carolina Panthers’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Sunday night’s contest now has huge implications for New Orleans.

With a win, the Saints would essentially move into a tie with the Panthers (3-4-1) for the divisional lead in the NFC South.

The big problem for New Orleans is Sunday’s night opponent. The Packers (5-2) come in having won four straight games, three of which have been lopsided affairs.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense pose a tremendous challenge for the New Orleans defense, and the Saints will have to be mindful of the deep ball at all times.

On the other side of the ball, Drew Brees will look to get back on track after tossing a crucial interception last week. The Saints quarterback has enjoyed some prolific individual performances against the Packers in recent years, although New Orleans may turn to its running game more often than usual tonight against Green Bay’s 31st-ranked run defense.

The scoreboard operators at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome could be in for quite the busy night on Sunday, as both offenses are capable of scoring points in bunches.

Kickoff is set for 8:30 ET/7:30 CT.
