Eagles vs. Cardinals: Score and Twitter Reaction from 2014 Regular Season
A 75-yard touchdown catch by John Brown with just over a minute remaining helped the Arizona Cardinals earn a 24-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Nick Foles had a chance to take the lead in the closing seconds but could not complete the final play in the end zone as the Eagles suffered a tough loss on the road.
There were high expectations for the game between 5-1 squads, and it lived up to the hype for all four quarters as neither side went up by more than a touchdown all game. There were a number of big plays late, but the Cardinals got the last laugh with a huge score in the closing minutes.

ESPN Stats & Info notes how well Arizona has played this season:
Larry Fitzgerald had his best game of the season by far with 160 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches. Carson Palmer struggled with his accuracy and completed fewer than 50 percent of his passes, but he still had 329 passing yards and two long touchdowns in the win.
Nick Foles put up 411 yards and two touchdowns on 62 pass attempts, but his two interceptions were a big problem in the loss.
One person you cannot blame is Jeremy Maclin, who scored twice to go with 12 catches for 187 yards.

It was a sloppy game for both teams with 21 combined penalties costing the squads 195 yards. However, Arizona did just enough to come through in a win that could end up having major playoff implications in the NFC.
The two teams went into halftime tied at 7-7 with each score coming on 80-yard drives early in the half. The Eagles could have been in much better shape if not for a few costly mistakes.
Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com broke down the situation at halftime:
One of the turnovers was a bad throw by Foles in the end zone that led to an Antonio Cromartie interception. That play led to this reaction from Dan Hanzus of NFL.com:
Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly provided his thoughts on the quarterback's play early on:
The low-scoring battle continued into the intermission until Fitzgerald broke the tie on the first drive of the second half. On a 3rd-and-10, the veteran caught a short pass and took it 80 yards to the end zone.
This was by far the biggest play of what has been a poor season for the 31-year-old receiver, but Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports was impressed:
Philadelphia was able to answer back with a big play of its own later in the third quarter. After a long Cody Parkey field goal to make it 14-10, the Eagles took the lead on a 54-yard pass to Maclin.
Chris B. Brown of Grantland gave his thoughts on the play by Foles:
The problem is his great throw was followed up by another poor decision in the fourth quarter, which led to another interception by Cromartie. Arizona turned this into a field goal to make it 17-17.
Fortunately for the Eagles, they were able to respond with a methodical drive that lasted 13 plays and over seven minutes, ending with the go-ahead field goal. The squad had a chance to get a touchdown after marching down to Arizona's 1-yard line, but LeSean McCoy was stopped short.
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole did not like the play design on the call:
Leaving points on the board ended up being a major problem because Arizona was able to answer back with a 75-yard touchdown to Brown with just 81 seconds remaining in the game.
Grantland's Bill Barnwell blamed safety Nate Allen for allowing the receiver to get behind him on the bomb:
Philadelphia had one last drive to take the lead and got down to the Cardinals' 16-yard line. Unfortunately, time simply ran out with Jordan Matthews failing to bring in the final attempt in the end zone.
Eagles coach Chip Kelly told reporters that he was coming into the game expecting a challenge against the Cardinals defense:
"Their scheme is somewhat unique in terms of getting in and out of fronts. They run a lot of different looks on the defensive side of the ball, so they can confuse you a little bit, but also they've got some really, really good football players on the defensive side of the ball.
"
The Eagles were able to get 521 yards of offense, but some key turnovers limited the offense to 20 points as the squad fell to 5-2 on the year.
Arizona now moves to 6-1 with the win, matching the Dallas Cowboys for the best record in the NFC. The Cowboys will play on Monday night against the Washington Redskins. Interestingly, the Cardinals will travel to Dallas in Week 9 for another important conference battle.
Philadelphia will have its second road game in a row against the Houston Texans, who improved to 4-4 on the season after beating the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
While there is a lot of season left, both teams were impressive in Week 8 and should feel good about their playoff prospects going forward.
