Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Marco Reus, Ezequiel Lavezzi and More
Liverpool's struggle to find form this season has made attack the preferred area of speculation when it comes to the club's January prospects, with Marco Reus sitting as prime suspect for an Anfield switch.
The Borussia Dortmund forward continues to draw interest from the Reds, but a hefty battle lies ahead in landing the German international.
Brendan Rodgers' side have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain misfit Ezequiel Lavezzi, and a certain free agent may yet complete his move to Merseyside after rejecting a Premier League peer.

Marco Reus

Borussia Dortmund are another club failing to hit previous heights this season, and with Jurgen Klopp's side currently sitting 14th in the German top flight, Reus may be tempted toward a 2015 exit.
And Liverpool will be somewhat happy to hear it could be a case determined exclusively by money, after German newspaper Bild (h/t Metro) revealed Reus would join "any side willing to offer £180,000-a-week."
Silverware prospects may not be as high at Anfield, but finances is one department in which the Reds have shown they can compete with the rest of Europe's big guns.

Last week, Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told German magazine Kicker (h/t Goal.com's Enis Koylu) of the club's interest in Reus:
"To be honest, we'll discuss the matter internally and calmly. Then we will come to a decision At the end of the day, the player has to decide too. His release clause is well known. There's nothing more to say."

The release clause Rummenigge speaks of is believed to come into effect next summer and is worth in the region of €25 million.
Liverpool may yet decide to make an increased offer in January with a view to offering Dortmund a more lucrative cash sum. But the Black and Yellows must decide whether the money is worth losing their player midway through the campaign.
Ezequiel Lavezzi

Ezequiel Lavezzi may not be revered as the same stellar asset he once was for Paris Saint-Germain, but that won't prevent Liverpool from making a big-money offer for his services next summer.
It's reported by Chisanga Malata of the Daily Star that Rodgers' side will make a £30 million move for the Argentina international next summer, writing:
"Sources in Spain claim the Reds chief will make a bid in the region of £30m for the PSG ace. If Rodgers does make a move for Lavezzi, he could face competition from the Reds' Premier League rival Arsenal. The Gunners have also been linked with a move for the forward, and according to reports, Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of the winger.
"
Lavezzi has made just two Ligue 1 starts for PSG this season, with the likes of Lucas Moura and Edinson Cavani preferred out wide.
At the age of 29, however, there is some questioning the price tag supposedly placed upon the winger, who will have turned 30 by the end of the 2014-15 season.
Rodgers' need for depth in elite attacking weapons is great, but value is another factor which must be adhered to in an effort to see Liverpool not repeat past mistakes in the transfer market.
Victor Valdes

Victor Valdes has shocked Manchester United by rejecting the chance to sign at Old Trafford on a short-term deal after spending several days on trial with the club.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo (h/t Metro) reports the stopper was offered a contract by the Red Devils, but declined the deal as he seeks a starting place, rather than playing as David de Gea's understudy.

It leaves Liverpool's hopes of signing the former Barcelona goalkeeper intact, and the prospect of tussling with Simon Mignolet for a place in the team is certainly more promising than his Old Trafford alternative.
The official Manchester United Twitter account confirmed on Friday that Valdes, recovering from a long-term injury, was undergoing his recovery at the club this week:
Rodgers may yet decide to invest in the Spaniard with a view to offering Mignolet a new sense of competition that could coax the best out of both stoppers.
However, it appears Valdes has a certain standard of playing in mind, and the 32-year-old may need certain assurances before agreeing to join their cause.
