Homeland Security Shuts Down Royals Fan's Underwear Operation

With the World Series between the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants underway, people are doing all kinds of things to try to sell their products to fans.

Birdies Panties, an underwear boutique in Kansas City, designed some Royals-themed women's underwear. The "Lucky Royals boyshorts" have "Take the Crown" and a crowned K.C. on the backside of the garment. 

However, according to Jenee Osterheldt of the Kansas City Star, agents from Homeland Security came into the boutique to confiscate the underwear because the logo infringed on MLB copyright.

One of the store's owners, Peregrine Honig, told Osterheldt, "They came in and there were two guys. I asked one of them what size he needed and he showed me a badge and took me outside. They told me they were from Homeland Security and we were violating copyright laws."

Homeland Security took the underwear and had Honig sign a statement that she would cease using the logo.

Despite the emblem being handmade, it still violated copyright because of the interlocking "KC" symbol.
