Minnesota Timberwolves Highlights to Get You Pumped Up for 2014-15 Season
Time to get pumped up, Minnesota Timberwolves fans! After months of waiting, the 2014-15 NBA season is only a couple weeks away.
For the first time in years, fans in Minnesota finally have something to be excited about. Not only did the Wolves add the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, Andrew Wiggins, but they also drafted the high-flying Zach LaVine.
Along with these newcomers, the Wolves still have their flashy facilitator, Ricky Rubio.
Zach Harper of ESPN.com described the Wolves as "terrible, but they're fun terrible." This team will probably have somewhere between 30-35 wins this year, but this season is about planning for the future.
Fans get to watch Wiggins, LaVine and other young high-ceiling players mature and develop right before their eyes.
Enough chitter-chatter, it's time to get pumped up with some highlights of your favorite Timberwolves players.
Andrew Wiggins Alley-Oop from Ricky Rubio in 2014 Preseason
1 of 6What can possibly make Wolves fans more excited than watching Andrew Wiggins throwing down a monstrous alley-oop?
Wiggins is a sure-to-be stud, but it may take a few years for him to perfect his offensive game. Until then, fans must settle for watching him perform incredible athletic feats and playing lockdown defense.
At only 19 years old, Wiggins may not be the best player on the Wolves, but he is definitely the most exciting to watch.
Zach LaVine Tomahawk Dunk in NBA Summer League
2 of 6Another high-flyer on this young Wolves team is Zach LaVine.
This 19-year-old rookie can dunk from the free-throw line and shoot from beyond the arc with ease. LaVine needs a few years before he can become a starter, but he may be the best dunker in the NBA right now.
Don't believe me? Here's a two-minute video containing several ridiculous LaVine dunks.
Thaddeus Young Dunk Versus Indiana Pacers
3 of 6He may not be quite the same as Kevin Love, but Thaddeus Young is a solid overall player.
Young is slightly undersized as a power forward (6'8"), but he makes up for it with his excellent athletic ability. His lateral quickness and leaping ability are on display every game he plays (as seen in the video above).
Not to mention Young is coming off a career year where he averaged 17.9 points per game while shooting over 30 percent from long range.
Anthony Bennett Two-Handed Jam in NBA Summer League
4 of 6Another young newcomer on this team is Anthony Bennett. He struggled mightily throughout his rookie season due to various injuries, but there's a reason he was drafted with the first pick in the 2013 NBA draft.
Bennett is only 21 years old, and he still has a lot of time to reach his full potential. If he can stay healthy and keep his weight under control, Bennett could be a future All-Star.
Most importantly, if he can stay in shape, then we can finally stop calling him "Big Daddy Canada."
Ricky Rubio Pass Between the Legs
5 of 6Picking a favorite Ricky Rubio pass is like choosing your favorite child. Okay, it may not be quite like Sophie's Choice, but it was difficult.
This pass between the legs against the Dallas Mavericks is so quick it's almost hard to see.
Rubio may not have the flashiest stat line, but he has ranked in the top 10 in assists in each year of his three-year career, per ESPN.com.
Gorgui Dieng Blocks Klay Thompson Layup
6 of 6Gorgui Dieng had arguably the most impressive summer out of any Timberwolf.
In the FIBA World Cup, Dieng was Senegal's best player. According to FIBA.com, Dieng averaged 16 points and 10.6 rebounds per game in this event.
Last year, Dieng showed potential as the backup to Nikola Pekovic (as seen in the video above), but if he continues to improve, he could make Pekovic expendable.
