Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans: Complete Week 6 Preview for the Jags
In a Week 6 divisional matchup the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) will travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans (1-4).
The Titans provide the Jaguars their most winnable matchup thus far, as they are allowing 27.8 points and 374.2 yards per game.
The Jaguars have had a difficult season so far and are averaging a mere 13.4 points per game while surrendering 33.8.
The Jaguars badly need a confidence boost, and this is the type of game that could provide it to them. If the team can employ an effective run game to complement Blake Bortles, it should have plenty of opportunities to put points on the board.
Week 5 Recap
1 of 5
Week 5 was as heartbreaking a defeat as the Jaguars have suffered all season, as they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-9.
It’s the close ones that always hurt the most.
It was a valiant effort by the Jaguars, who were led by a defense that amassed four sacks. Linebacker Paul Posluszny put together a great performance generating 12 tackles, one sack and on pass defensed.
It was the offense that couldn’t capitalize on the defense's effort. Although Blake Bortles looked poised in some tough situations and finished 22-of-36 for 191 yards, he still threw two very costly interceptions.
The Jaguars will need to clean up their turnover problem and work on being more efficient if the team hopes to get a victory in Week 6.
News and Notes

Storm Johnson Will See Increased Workload?
The Florida Times-Union (h/t Chris Wesseling on NFL.com) is reporting that the Jaguars are opening up the competition for starting running back and that rookie Storm Johnson might get a crack at the job.
Johnson was called upon four times in Week 5 and averaged 6.8 yards per carry in that time. He has great chemistry with Blake Bortles and could inject some much needed consistency into this abysmal rushing attack.
Cecil Shorts Back at Practice
The Associated Press is reporting through FoxSports.com that wide receiver Cecil Shorts returned to practice as a full participant on Thursday.
Shorts is a big-time player for the Jaguars and would be a welcomed addition back to the starting lineup. That being said, hamstring injuries can be tricky, and I’d hate to see Shorts rush himself back.
Marqise Lee Could See Occasional Work
The Times-Union (h/t Larry Hartstein of CBSSports.com) is also reporting that Marqise Lee is practicing on a limited scale and could return to “spot duty” on Sunday.
Lee has had a tough rookie season, but he has the potential to be a playmaker for the Jaguars. It’ll be good to see him back, but I question if he’ll have his explosiveness.

Matchups to Watch
4 of 5
Johnathan Cyprien vs. Delanie Walker
Titans tight end Delanie Walker is having a great season so far, putting up 364 yards and three touchdowns on 26 receptions to this point. Cyprien will have a tough task against Walker, but if he can contain him the Jaguars will have a great shot at winning.
Chris Clemons vs. Michael Oher
The Titans have allowed 14 sacks so far this season, while the Jaguars have amassed 16. The Jaguars defense is opportunistic, and a lot of pressure will come from its “Leo” defensive lineman, Chris Clemons. Michael Oher will need to have a strong day in order to keep the quarterback upright.
Allen Robinson vs. Jason McCourty
Allen Robinson is leading the Jaguars in targets and has really come on in the past few games. Robinson is a player who has excellent length and hands and has become the Jaguars' most reliable option.
Meanwhile, Jason McCourty remains one of the league’s best cornerbacks and will make things difficult for Robinson. If Robinson can exploit this matchup, Blake Bortles and Robinson could have their biggest day yet.
Prediction
5 of 5
I like this matchup for the Jaguars, especially if Storm Johnson can get some productive snaps. The Jaguars should be able exploit some matchups offensively, and their defense shouldn’t have a problem generating pressure all day.
The one concern I have is turnovers; the Jaguars will have to maximize their opportunities and not give the Titans additional ones. If they can do that, they'll win this game.
Prediction: Jaguars 21, Titans 17
