Manchester United Transfer News: Radamel Falcao Intent Aids Bid for Future Stars

Radamel Falcao would happily commit to Manchester United for "many years," the striker has said after netting his first goal since arriving in England.

Louis van Gaal's loan signing from Monaco scored the winner in United's 2-1 victory over Everton on Sunday, and spoke to MUTV (h/t Independent's Paul Hirst) after the result regarding his desire to remain at Old Trafford: "Me and my family are happy here, and we would like to stay for many years at Manchester United."

Falcao joined the Red Devils on loan this summer for a fee of £6 million and a further £43 million investment would be sufficient for United to acquire his services on a permanent basis.

His acquisition came in the midst of Van Gaal's redevelopment project, and just when it may seem as though the allure of the Theatre of Dreams is waning, comments such as these will undoubtedly help convince others to follow suit.

Manchester United's reputation as a European superpower has inevitably diminished since Sir Alex Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012-13 campaign. In turn, it's been speculated that the club wouldn't find it as easy to draw the world's top talents, their dreams perhaps better facilitated elsewhere.

The Guardian's Nooruddean Choudry argued over the summer that United's lack of European football and the current trajectory of the club would not garner appeal, regardless of how much money is flaunted:

And that was partly right. In principle, United haven't been able to rake their targets in as easily as they might have a decade ago, but splashing the cash—£150 million of it, to be exact—made for a successful summer.

For that sum, United reeled in Falcao, along with Angel Di Maria, Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind, but even with such arrivals it hasn't been the masterpiece Van Gaal will have been hoping for.

After all, there are many teams who can spend big in football, but only a select few have the knowledge and wisdom to wield it well. The elite footballer knows as much, and so it takes substance to establish that world-class magnitude.

Magnetism that United's two successive Premier League wins over West Ham and Everton will help cement; magnetism that Falcao is aiding by professing his admiration for the club.

Let us not forget that before a crippling knee injury ended his 2013-14 campaign prematurely and before Diego Costa started ripping English defences to shreds, Falcao was very much valued as one of the world's most revered strikers.

And after netting his first goal in United colours, the Colombian is regaining his momentum to re-enter that conversation. So to hear such a figure saying that he has faith in the Red Devils will only inspire like-minded belief in others.

Right now, it's perhaps the fans who need it as much as anybody else, but for anyone in the transfer market ready to listen, Falcao is proving a valuable poster boy barely a month into his Manchester United duties.
