Manchester United Transfer News: Radamel Falcao States Intention to Stay

Gianni VerschuerenOct 6, 2014

Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao scored his first goal for the club during Sunday's 2-1 win over Everton, and after the match, he was quoted saying he hopes the Red Devils will make his loan move from AS Monaco permanent during the summer.

"Me and my family are happy here, and we would like to stay for many years at Manchester United," the Colombia international said, speaking to MUTV (h/t talkSPORT).

It took Falcao four matches to bag his first Premier League goal, but Sunday's strike was a perfect example of the special skills the 28-year-old brings to the table.

Angel Di Maria never intended to play a through ball, but the Colombian timed his run beautifully and pounced on the fluffed shot, giving goalkeeper Tim Howard no chance. Manager Louis van Gaal told reporters after the match he believes Falcao will settle into a nice rhythm now that first goal is out of the way, per the Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler:

"

He needed that goal. I have talked with him because I thought he was forcing himself too much to score a goal. He's a player who will normally score a goal every match and has had to wait so long. I can understand that but now he has scored it will be better after the international break.

"

United's rocky start to the 2014-15 Premier League campaign almost seems a distant memory after three wins in their last four matches, and Sunday's result took the club into the top four for the first time this season.

Falcao hadn't looked as sharp as fellow new arrivals Di Maria and Daley Blind in his first weeks with the squad, but now that's he's broken his scoring duck, the rest of the league better beware.

The striker broke the 20-goal mark twice in his last three seasons, via WhoScored.com, and the knee injury that ruled him out of the 2014 World Cup no longer appears to be holding him back.

If Falcao returns to his scoring ways, there's little question the Red Devils will do everything possible to make his loan deal permanent in the summer of 2015. The Sport Bible's Liam hopes to see him and Di Maria in red and white for as long as possible:

Even at a reported price tag of £43 million, per talkSPORT, a proven and consistent scorer in his prime is well worth the fee. And with Monaco struggling tremendously in Ligue 1, Falcao won't be keen on a return to the French tax paradise anytime soon.

Manchester United will play West Bromwich Albion when Premier League action returns after the international break before hosting undefeated league leaders Chelsea.
