Mike BatistaOct 5, 2014

The Pittsburgh Steelers took a step in the right direction Sunday with a 17-9 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field.

It wasn't pretty. The Steelers had to dig deep for their touchdowns in this game.

Tight end Michael Palmer scored on a one-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to give the Steelers a 10-3 lead in the second quarter, and nickelback Brice McCain returned a Blake Bortles interception 23 yards in the fourth quarter.

The Steelers were clinging to a 10-9 lead with 11:32 left in the game when McCain came up with his pick-six.

Ben Roethlisberger completed 26 of 36 passes for 273 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions. Le'Veon Bell was the Steelers' leading rusher with 82 yards on 15 carries.

Antonio Brown's streak of consecutive games with at least five receptions and 50 yards was in jeopardy before Roethlisberger threw him a screen pass on the Steelers' final possession. Brown extended his streak to 21 games and finished with five catches for 84 yards.

The Steelers improved to 3-2 for the first time since 2011. That was the last time they finished better than .500. They kept the 0-5 Jaguars winless.
