Manchester United Transfer News: Radamel Falcao Permanent-Deal Terms Revealed

Tom SunderlandOct 2, 2014

Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms and a transfer fee should they wish to make the signing of Radamel Falcao permanent next summer, just a month after bringing the striker in on loan from Monaco.

The Colombian international completed a deadline-day move to Old Trafford in the last transfer window, and the Daily Mail's Ian Ladyman writes all is in place for a £43.5 million switch in 2015:

"

Having paid a loan fee of £6million to the French club for the 28-year-old, United have also agreed to a transfer fee of £43.5m if they decide to take the striker permanently at the end of the season.

[...]

Now it has emerged that United chief executive Ed Woodward has already agreed a £250,000-a-week wage – as well as bonuses and image rights – with the player and his representatives ahead of next summer.

Life in England has started positively for Falcao, who despite failing to score his first goal for the club, has created three chances in his first three appearances, two of which have been converted, per Squawka.

Danny Welbeck was sold to Arsenal in order for United to free up the squad space for Falcao's arrival, and Sky Football's Daniel Harris claims it was an opportune acquisition for Louis van Gaal's side:

As Ladyman's report states, the early nature of this agreement ensures that United avoid any disagreement like the one that saw Carlos Tevez move to rivals Manchester City in 2009, should they opt to cement Falcao's stay at Old Trafford.

Tevez had all but personal terms in place to pen a permanent deal with the Red Devils, opting to unexpectedly pull out and head for the Etihad Stadium.

Falcao's United prospects depend largely on how his return to full fitness from the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered last December progresses.

Van Gaal has largely played his forward in bit parts, Falcao yet to play a full match under his new manager as he strives to put that injury blow behind him. Goal.com's Ben Hayward predicts he has the potential for great things if he can summon his best:

Speaking to the official club website (h/t ESPN) upon completing his deadline-day switch, Falcao said:

"

It's a dream come true to join a club like Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I've always dreamt about playing for one of the truly great teams and winning lots of trophies. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you can't turn that down. I'm a huge fan of English football and watch it whenever I can. Now the reality is I'm going to play there.

"

The early signs would suggest club and player can establish a fruitful partnership at Old Trafford, and it seems only a matter of time until the goals start raining in for United's latest attacking hero.

The former Porto and Atletico Madrid ace has his future in England secured if he can convince his new employers to fork out the £43.5 million fee next summer, bringing his total cost near the £50 million mark.
