Arsene Wenger couldn't hide his praise for forward Danny Welbeck after he scored a hat-trick in Arsenal's 4-1 Champions League win over Galatasaray on Wednesday.

Welbeck opened the score in the first half with a smart finish before doubling his tally with a solo effort, displaying plenty of pace and power. Alexis Sanchez added a third just before half-time to effectively kill the match after 45 minutes.
Welbeck completed his hat-trick in the second half, and while the Gunners' win lost some of its shine when Wojciech Szczesny conceded a penalty and saw the red card in the process, Arsenal comfortably held on to their three-goal lead after Burak Yilmaz converted from the spot.
Wenger made his debut as Arsenal manager 18 years ago, and Mesut Ozil believed the players gave him the perfect birthday gift:
He loved what he saw from his team on Wednesday, as the entire squad lived up to its potential, via Squawka:
He gave plenty of praise to the team's opponents, however, admitting the trip to Turkey will be a lot more difficult:
Wenger couldn't get over Welbeck's performance, even going as far as saying he never knew the England international had so much pace:
Finally, when asked about his anniversary, he told a journalist 18 years is indeed a long time, via The Associated Press' Rob Harris:
Cesare Prandelli saw plenty of criticism on social media for his tactics in the first half, and with Galatasaray enduring a nightmare start to the season, the Italian's position is anything but safe.
As shared by Red&Yellow, he took full responsibility for Wednesday's result:
Di Marzio's David Amoyal seems to think the writing's on the wall:
Wenger couldn't have asked for a better anniversary but will have little time to celebrate, as Arsenal will play Premier League leaders Chelsea on Sunday. The Blues ruined Wenger's 1,000th match in charge last season, and he'll be desperate to avoid a repeat performance.
Galatasaray will take comfort in knowing Anderlecht suffered a 3-0 loss against Borussia Dortmund, strengthening their bid for the Europa League ticket, but Prandelli is starting to run out of time to figure things out.
