Tigers' Rajai Davis Steals 35th Base to Match Team's Total from 2013
In stealing his 35th base of the season Wednesday afternoon, Detroit Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis single-handedly matched his team's entire 2013 steals total, per ESPN Stats & Info.
Motor City baseball wasn't know for prowess on the basepaths last season, as the Tigers ranked last in the majors with just those 35 steals. The St. Louis Cardinals, owners of the next lowest total, swiped 45 bags.
Not a single Tigers player collected double-digit steals in 2013, with Austin Jackson's eight leading the team. Andy Dirks was second on the team with seven, while Omar Infante was third with just five.

The 33-year-old Davis was brought on to help in this department and has shown that he is no stranger to swiping bases. He's collected 30 or more steals in each of the last six seasons, and his career-best total of 50 came back in 2010 with the Oakland Athletics. Prior to the 2014 season, he had racked up more steals than RBI for three straight years.
Although Davis was far and away the team leader in steals, fellow offseason acquisition Ian Kinsler was also able to chip in 15, which would have easily led the team last season. Shortstop Andrew Romine has contributed 11 steals, while last year's leader, Austin Jackson, racked up nine before being sent to the Seattle Mariners in a midseason trade.
Thanks to a bit of a new look in 2014, the Tigers rank fourth in the American League with 104 stolen bases heading into Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins.
