Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer has the latest on Cameron:

"

Cameron returned to the practice field today from his concussion in preparation for Sunday's game. His status will be updated later Friday.

It's the first time he's seen the field since Raiders safety Brandian Ross hit him in the head and neck area with his helmet Oct. 26.

He looked fine running around in quarterback/receiver red zone drills, catching passes in the end zone from Brian Hoyer and the other quarterbacks.

"

However, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler noted that the tight end wouldn't see the field on Sunday:

Cabot also noted Cameron's thoughts on his future and where he stands now:

The Cleveland Browns will be without tight end Jordan Cameron for the second consecutive game.

Cameron will miss Thursday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals because he has not recovered from a concussion, his third in three seasons, received in the win over Oakland.

"

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the current expectation for Jordan Cameron in Week 10:

"

Sources say it is also very unlikely Cameron plays Thursday night against division-leading Cincinnati. Cameron's latest concussion, his third, has cast some doubt over his short- and long-term future.

Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 Radio in Cleveland had an update on Jordan Cameron's status:

Updates from Tuesday, Oct. 28

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported the latest on Jordan Cameron's status following his concussion on Sunday:

"

Browns tight end Jordan Cameron suffered his third concussion in less than two years, and his status for the next two games is uncertain.

With the Browns playing two games over the next 11 days - at home Sunday against Tampa Bay and Thursday Nov. 6 in Cincinnati - it remains to be seen if Cameron will play in either one.

Cameron went up for the 21-yard catch and was drilled in the head and neck area by Raiders safety Brandian Ross, who led with his helmet illegally.  Cameron was lost for the game, and probably more.

'The league, as they should be, is very deliberate with the (concussion) protocol,'' said coach Mike Pettine. "You just take each day and see where he is symptom-wise. I haven't gotten the full medical report yet today. I'll probably know a little bit more later this afternoon.'

Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl tight end Jordan Cameron dealt with injury issues to start the 2014 NFL season, and the bug bit him again in Week 8's matchup with Oakland.

Cameron exited the field to be evaluated for a concussion, via Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal:

Cameron was later ruled out for the remainder of the game, via the Browns:

Even with a band of misfit pass-catchers, Cleveland's offense has clicked rather well with Brian Hoyer under center, even despite Cameron not quite contributing the way he did amid his breakout 2013 campaign. That was mostly due to a nagging shoulder injury early on.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has had to adapt without Cameron in the lineup before. Ahead of Week 2's win over New Orleans in which Cameron didn't play, Shanahan discussed how Cameron's absence impacted the team's strategy, per Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot:

"

Yeah, it affects how we look at everything when you put together a game plan, a third-down package...Everything you do, it affects it, who you want to get the ball to with matchups and stuff. I'm used to being in this situation. A lot of times you never know who's going to be up.

"

A deep backfield featuring Ben Tate and rookies Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell will continue to be the foundational pillar Cleveland relies on. However, Hoyer has proven capable of making the most of a perceived lackluster supporting cast, giving the Browns balance they haven't experienced in years.

It is bad timing for Cameron to be banged up amid a contract year, though. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network analyzed the way Cameron was already angling for the new deal in July:

The sooner Cameron returns, the more explosive and closer to a playoff-caliber team the Browns are.

Having Cameron in the lineup is an added bonus in Shanahan's system with which the Browns aren't as familiar as they'd like to be. The silver lining of this situation is that more Cleveland playmakers can step up in lieu of Cameron and solidify themselves as viable receiving targets.

That will only make the offense all the more dangerous when Cameron returns, not to mention when All-Pro receiver Josh Gordon's suspension is lifted.
