Peyton Manning Rips into Julius Thomas During Chiefs Game

Dan CarsonSep 15, 2014

Peyton Manning and Julius Thomas have developed one of the more explosive relationships in the National Football League.

If you were to look at the Cliff's Notes version of each Denver game over the last two seasons, you’d see “Manning to J. Thomas” accounting for roughly 4,000 of the Broncos’ points. They will tear your team down and burn the village if given an opportunity.

Nonetheless, the Broncos offense calls for perfection, and there are times when Thomas ruins everything for everyone. These errors Manning cannot abide, and the quarterback will let his teammates know about it.

Such was the case during Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs when Thomas failed to clear out running room for wide receiver Demaryius Thomas. The tight end jogged off the field under a withering hail of verbal abuse from his quarterback.

Manning turned a terrifying shade of ochre as he dressed Thomas down on national television.

As far as Manning meltdowns go, this was on par if not angrier than his “run the ball” tiff with center Jeff Saturday during his time with the Indianapolis Colts.

Manning yells because he cares—and because he’s a perfectionist with zero tolerance for sloppiness at any point in the game.
