Dixon held off contenders Helio Castroneves, Sebastian Bourdais, Dario Franchitti and EJ Viso to make a clean sweep of the event after capturing the pole for Race 2 on Saturday.
Dixon's best lap was timed at 59.8436 seconds on the day.
While Dixon was mostly in control throughout the race, there was a battle going on among the rest of the top finishers.
The IZOD IndyCar Series tweeted down the stretch:
Not only did Dixon win his second race of the weekend on Sunday, he also grabbed a cool $100,000 bonus, per ZombieHonda.com:
What a win for Dixon and Co. The victory comes on the heels of Dixon's win in Pocono on July 7.ย
And as author Jade Gurss noted, Dixon's three-race win streak midseason may be a sign of things to come for the 32-year-old Australian:
Dixon was third in the official IndyCar standings leading up to the race, per NBCSports.com.
It's going to be interesting if this streak will boost the veteran moving forward. He's won the IndyCar Series twice in his career (2003, 2008), but it's been a while since he captured the title.ย
As they say, it's not how you start, it's how you finish. At midseason, Dixon looks to have a lot of momentum behind him.
Enough to push him to the championship.
