Player of the Game: Cowboys WR Camden Brown

Cowboys beat reporters already knew about the strides Camden Brown made at training camp. Well, he put his playmaking ability on display Saturday, hauling in three passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns. 

All three of Brown's catches were big grabs—even his two-yard reception for a score will be in preseason highlight reels. 

Typically, undrafted rookies need more than one impressive preseason performance to secure a roster spot, but given Brown's string of strong showings at practice, he should be in a position to make the cut in a couple of weeks.

Coming out of Georgia Southern, Brown was overlooked even though he caught 65 passes for 1,079 yards and 14 touchdowns. Now, we're left wondering how this guy went undrafted.

On the opposite end of the special teams spectrum from Traeshon Holden's muffed punt return, Jonathan Mingo's track-down tackle on a punt return would help him in the numbers game among potential roster cuts.

Last season, Mingo appeared in six games with the Cowboys and played 26 percent of the snaps on special teams. He could see a bigger role with that unit this year.

Traeshon Holden tried to field a punt inside his own 5-yard line, and it ended in disaster.

With a towel over his head on the sideline, Holden knows he made a mistake that could cost him a roster spot. Fortunately for him, the Seahawks weren't able to capitalize with a score on a short field.

Player of the Game: Ravens WR Ja'Kobi Lane

Anyone excited about Ja'Kobi Lane before the preseason should be thrilled by what they saw on Saturday. Lane made strong statements with an 18-yard catch and a touchdown grab in traffic. 

The Ravens didn't need to see a lot from Lane, but the rookie third-rounder hauled in all three of his targets for 38 yards and his highlight score. 

Lane's camp buzz doesn't seem like empty hype. He looks ready to go up against starters in the regular season. Still, Baltimore should keep the rookie active, allowing him to continue building momentum ahead of its season opener in Indianapolis.

Cowboys wide receiver Camden Brown has two highlight touchdown grabs that will vault him into the discussion among the top preseason performers. 

As noted earlier, Brown has been on the rise in recent weeks, and the undrafted rookie showed why he deserves your attention. After wrestling a contested ball away from a Seahawks cornerback in the end zone, he Moss'd another for his second score of the game.

Under former head coach John Harbaugh, the Baltimore Ravens went full throttle in the preseason, and it hasn't been any different with new lead skipper Jesse Minter. 

Baltimore almost sent Philadelphia home with a scoreboard donut. Rookie quarterback Cole Payton found wideout Erik Ezukanma in the back of the end zone to put an end to the Eagles' drought.

By the way, the Eagles have four quarterbacks on the roster. Barring a trade, Payton needs a strong showing, or he'll be buried on the depth chart in his first year.

The Baltimore Ravens placed Skylar Thompson on injured reserve. As a result, Joe Fagnano and Austin Reed are likely battling for the No. 3 quarterback spot, which is a practice-squad role.

The Ravens took a long look at Fagnano, who went 22-of-28 for 224 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Reed won't see a lot of action, but he didn't waste time making a trip to paydirt.

At Western Kentucky, Reed led Conference USA in passing yards for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He's spent most of his pro career on and off the Chicago Bears' practice squad, and his athleticism could extend his stay in Baltimore.

Sam Howell tossed one up and allowed his wide receiver to go get it out of the air. 

Undrafted rookie Camden Brown showed the hunger of a player trying to make the roster, hauling in a contested grab and keeping it away from cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles.

The Cowboys need that type of tenacity at the receiver position. Brown certainly earned some respect in his locker room with his first touchdown reception. His stock has been on the rise lately.

According to Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' official website, Brown has earned first-team reps and caught several touchdown passes at camp.

In his final year in college, Adam Randall transitioned from wide receiver to running back. He rushed for 814 yards and 10 touchdowns at Clemson last season. 

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti handpicked Randall in the fifth round of this year's draft. At 6'2", 235 pounds with a receiver background, he can be a more versatile version of Derrick Henry out of the backfield. 

Randall's first preseason touchdown may be the beginning of a productive career in Baltimore.

Sometimes, it's best to take a big gain and hit the ground. 

Elijah Sarratt had played well up to this point. He's hauled in five of six targets for 55 yards, but the rookie wideout would probably like to have this one back. 

Shaun Wade, whom the Baltimore Ravens selected in the fifth round of the 2021 draft, forced the fumble and recovered it on a heads-up play.

While revenge is too strong a word for a player who was only on Baltimore's roster for a few months, Wade probably feels good about this one.

So far, the Cowboys haven't been able to do much on the ground, but Jaydon Blue has two receptions for 15 yards. He's competing with 2025 draftmate Phil Mafah to be Javonte Williams' primary backup.

As Dallas sorts out the pecking order at running back, Blue and Mafah should see a lot of playing time in the preseason.

Joe Fagnano has to throw the ball once the receiver gains separation while running toward the end zone to hit him in stride. He held onto the ball too long, and Kelee Ringo made the undrafted rookie pay the consequences.

Nonetheless, Ringo made a good play on the ball and showed great body control and awareness, keeping his feet in bounds for the takeaway. 

Ringo was inconsistent in coverage throughout the 2025 season. With cornerback Riq Woolen on the roster, he'll play a lesser role on defense but remain a key contributor on special teams.

Drew Lock isn't an NFL starter, but if a team needs a backup to fill in and toss a few passes on a tightrope to his pass-catchers, he can be your guy.

We'll see second-year signal-caller Jalen Milroe in this matchup, but Lock is in Seattle dealing right now. He went 3-of-4 for 20 yards and a score on the Seahawks' opening drive.

Ja'Kobi Lane has been a headliner at Ravens camp, and he's active early in his preseason debut with three catches for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Lane had a big catch in the first quarter on a wide-open reception.

He hauled in his first touchdown pass in traffic with two defenders draped over him. The 6'4", 200-pound wideout has the size and enough speed (4.47 40-yard time) to be a special player on the pro level. 

If Rashod Bateman doesn't rebound from a down year, Lane can slide into the Ravens' No. 2 receiver spot as a complement to two-time Pro Bowler Zay Flowers.

Player of the Game: Jaguars RB J'Mari Taylor

Cornerback Jabbar Muhammad clinched the win with his pass breakup, but J'Mari Taylor carried a heavy load, logging 22 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown. 

The Jaguars have a set trio of running backs with Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez and LeQuint Allen Jr., though Taylor can make the roster or earn several call-ups during the regular season as the fourth tailback on the depth chart. 

With a downhill run style, Taylor can handle short-yardage situations as an alternative to Rodriguez.

Second-year cornerback Jabbar Muhammad had his shining moment in the final seconds of the Jacksonville Jaguars' matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

Saints quarterback Hunter Dekkers tested Muhammad with a throw to wideout Jalen Moreno-Cropper and came up empty. 

In a battle for one of the last cornerback spots, Muhammad turned heads at OTAs, and his game-sealing pass breakup is another notch in a strong offseason.

Player of the Game: Rams QB Ty Simpson

Ty Simpson played with and against backups, but he clearly outplayed his competition and uplifted his supporting cast. In an impressive pro debut, the rookie signal-caller finished 21-of-25 for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

Simpson peppered the intermediate zones. He also threw well-placed darts to Brennan Presley and fellow rookies CJ Daniels and Dean Connors.

Furthermore, Simpson looked comfortable going through his reads to find open pass-catchers. Out of the backfield, Connors caught both of Simpson's touchdown passes.

Reigning league MVP Matthew Stafford will be the Rams' starting quarterback for the foreseeable future, though when he's ready to pass the baton, Simpson should be ready to run with it.

J'Mari Taylor caught head coach Liam Coen's attention at rookie minicamp and during organized team activities, and we saw a glimpse of what he can bring to the Jacksonville Jaguars' ground attack.

Along with his power-run style, Taylor has shown he can break free for big gains as well. He leads the Jaguars with 78 rushing yards, which includes a 13-yard gain.

Although 11-year veteran Ameer Abdullah can provide veteran leadership, Taylor's upside may be too much to ignore when shaping the running back room for the regular season.

Ty Simpson has engineered consecutive scoring drives with passes to undrafted rookie Dean Connors for touchdowns. The rookie signal-caller is superbly accurate, going 21-of-25 with six minutes and 32 seconds left in regulation.

If the Rams see more of this out of Simpson, he should be Matthew Stafford's primary backup for the regular season.

In limited action, fourth-year quarterback Stetson Bennett IV completed four of six pass attempts for 38 yards. He may be auditioning for a spot elsewhere for the remainder of the preseason.

Ty Simpson has found his rhythm with the Los Angeles Rams backups. He's been surgical under center with only a few incompletions.

Sure, the Kansas City Chiefs defense isn't generating much pressure, but the rookie is making all the right reads and taking what the defense gives him.

Head coach Sean McVay must love that Simpson was able to finish the drive with a red-zone touchdown pass to undrafted rookie running back Dean Connors.

Both Carter Bradley and Hunter Long need these flash moments.

Eight-year veteran Nick Mullens will probably serve as Trevor Lawrence's primary backup, which leaves Bradley and undrafted rookie Joey Aguilar competing for the No. 3 spot.

The Jacksonville Jaguars overhauled their tight end room, adding rookies Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol in the second and fifth rounds, respectively. Although the Jaguars signed Long to a two-year deal last offseason, his spot on the 53-man roster isn't guaranteed. 

Yet it's important to note that Jaguars head coach Liam Coen comes from Sean McVay's coaching tree. The Los Angeles Rams feature a rotation of tight ends, and Jacksonville may do the same this year. Still, Long has to earn his role within a crowded unit.

After 18 seasons, the Baltimore Ravens fired head coach John Harbaugh and hired Jesse Minter to replace him. Ironically, Minter served as the defensive coordinator under John's younger brother, Jim Harbaugh, for the past four years with the Los Angeles Chargers and Michigan Wolverines.

Minter's defensive expertise should carry over in Baltimore. Under Harbaugh, the Ravens played a physical brand of football, and that probably won't change under their new lead skipper.

We'll get an early look at the Ravens against the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.

Yes, it's the preseason, but NFL players will tell you it's always a good feeling to reach paydirt.

Oscar Delp may not have many opportunities in his rookie campaign. Coming off a career year, Juwan Johnson will lead the Saints' tight end group. New Orleans signed Noah Fant to a two-year deal.

Rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is dealing with a hamstring injury. As a result, the Saints may frequently run multi-tight-end sets. Even if that's the case, Delp will need to make the most of a limited role. 

Delp's preseason production could go a long way in earning the coaching staff's trust on passing downs.

Garrett Nussmeier put Cyrus Allen in a dangerous position with a high throw, but the training camp standout made it work on the 13-yard completion.

Entering Saturday's game, Allen had notable buzz among Chiefs fans and the fantasy football community. Because of the Chiefs' shaky receiver corps, the rookie fifth-rounder has a chance to play a significant role in the passing game.

Xavier Worthy has yet to meet first-round expectations. Rashee Rice has missed more than half the games in his last two seasons due to injuries and a lengthy suspension.

The Chiefs re-signed wideout Tyquan Thornton, but if Allen works his way into three-receiver sets, he could post solid receiver numbers with Patrick Mahomes under center.

In his NFL debut, running back Emmett Johnson has strong support from the stands, and he's giving them a lot to be excited about. The rookie tailback has shown an extra gear on his runs in the first half.

Going into halftime, Johnson has three receptions for 10 yards in addition to five carries for 23 yards. He could spell free-agent acquisition Kenneth Walker on early downs in the regular season.

On the move, rookie seventh-rounder Garrett Nussmeier displayed his arm talent on a completion to Nikko Remigio. You can definitely see Patrick Mahomes' influence on the throw. 

Based on experience, Nussmeier is unlikely to surpass Justin Fields on the Chiefs' quarterback depth chart, but he can make the roster if Kansas City believes another team will claim him off waivers. 

Fields went 4-of-4 for 41 yards on two drives. So, the Chiefs will get an extended look at Nussmeier in his NFL debut.

Player of the Game: Bills WR DJ Moore

Josh Allen could've easily earned the nod for player of the game, but he didn't see a full field of defensive starters. Completing six of eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown, the 2024 MVP did exactly what was expected of him on a couple of preseason drives.

Coming over from the Chicago Bears, DJ Moore did a good job of fitting into the Bills' passing attack in his first outing with the team. He caught three passes for 61 yards, logging the longest reception of the game on a 32-yard play.

Moore took a backseat to younger pass-catchers in Chicago, but he should lead Buffalo's passing game with big numbers this year.

Player of the Game: Vikings WR Myles Price

We didn't see a ton of wow plays in this matchup, but Myles Price's smooth one-handed grab drew widespread praise; Justin Jefferson approved. 

Overall, Price also had a solid outing, hauling in all four of his targets for 51 yards and that highlight touchdown. He's in line to retain his role on special teams.

Player of the Game: Browns WR KC Concepcion

The Browns lost the game, but KC Concepcion made the most impact before the third- and fourth-stringers took the field. If he played through four quarters, the rookie would've racked up well over 100 all-purpose yards.

Concepcion returned a punt for 31 yards, caught three passes for 27 yards and scored on a 14-yard touchdown run. He's regular-season ready, and the Browns can get creative with his usage on offense and special teams.

Audric Estime didn't waste any time in his preseason showcase. He finished the Saints' first drive with a nine-yard run for a score.

Estime is competing against Kendre Miller and Devin Neal for a backup role behind Travis Etienne Jr. and Alvin Kamara. Both Miller and Neal have dealt with injuries, and neither is suited up to play Saturday.

Estime could take full advantage of an expanded role with his top two competitors on the mend.

Deshaun Watson had a more efficient outing than Shedeur Sanders and avoided egregious mistakes.

In the second half, Sanders threw a bad interception to Beanie Bishop Jr. and barely completed over 50 percent of his pass attempts. 

Sanders will start next week against the Chicago Bears in front of the Dawg Pound in Cleveland. If he struggles in that game, Watson could lock up the starting job.

After Saturday's game, Browns head coach Todd Monken praised Watson's performance.

Bishop Bishop Jr. has two interceptions on back-to-back drives. After picking off Shedeur Sanders, he did the same to Dillon Gabriel in a near-identical takeaway.

If Bishop wasn't in a position to make the roster coming into this contest, he certainly changed his outlook Saturday. 

It's worth noting that Bishop lined up primarily in the slot during the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bears nickelback Kyler Gordon has been dealing with injuries. Chicago may need a backup to help fill his role.

That said, the NFL has suspended Bishop for three games, so he won't be available until Week 4 of the regular season.

Josh Allen had a short, efficient day, completing six of his eight pass attempts for 111 yards and a touchdown, but he's present on the sideline rooting on the guys trying to make the team. 

Undrafted rookie Kani Walker picked off Carolina Panthers quarterback Kyle Trask to set up the Bills offense on a short field in opponent territory. Buffalo scored a few plays later.

Walker made plays at camp. So, Buffalo's coaching staff probably isn't surprised by his forced turnover. He could provide quality depth to the Bills' secondary this year.

Shedeur Sanders tried to push the ball downfield, but Beanie Bishop Jr. had other plans for the deep pass to center field.

Since taking over in the second half, Sanders has been hit-or-miss from the pocket, completing six of 11 pass attempts. He didn't get enough zip on this particular throw, and Bishop made him pay for it. 

In 2024, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bishop recorded four interceptions. This may have been his easiest takeaway. Even though Sanders is playing with mostly back-end roster players, he must make better throws than that.

Myles Price scored the Vikings' first touchdown of the day with a one-handed grab. 

It's not exactly Odell Beckham Jr.'s one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in 2014, but nonetheless, still impressive for the second-year undrafted receiver out of Indiana.

Vikings' star wideout Justin Jefferson certainly loved it.

Price is competing to retain a role on the Vikings' special teams unit, but this reception will look good in his career highlight reel.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders led his team down inside the 10-yard line, but the Chicago Bears defense tightened up to keep them out of the end zone.

Jamree Kromah was in on the 4th-and-1 stop, stuffing running back Ahmani Marshall in his tracks.

Salvon Ahmed is looking to re-emerge as an asset out of the backfield. He hasn't played a regular-season snap since the 2023 season with the Miami Dolphins.

In four years with the Dolphins, Ahmed served as a complementary tailback, though he has shown the ability to make plays in the short passing game, catching 40 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown. The 27-year-old can still contribute in that aspect.

We won't see Patrick Mahomes or Travis Kelce in today's preseason game, but here's a little pitch-and-catch action between the two as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to take the field against the Los Angeles Rams.

Working his way back from a torn ACL, Mahomes is trending toward suiting up for the Chiefs' regular-season Monday Night Football opener against the Denver Broncos on September 14.

After making an early play in the backfield against the run, Jamal Adams went down with an injury. Crossing the middle of the field, he went down and grabbed his knee.

Given Adams' extensive injury history, it's concerning to see him go down early in the game.

The Chicago Bears' wide receiver group is set at the top four spots with Rome Odunze, Luther Bruden III, Kalif Raymond and rookie third-rounder Zavion Thomas, but there's still more room for more depth.

Maurice Alexander put his name on the radar with a touchdown reception to put the Bears on the scoreboard. 

Although Alexander is among the players trying to make the cut, he's not a random player on Chicago's roster. The 29-year-old is familiar with head coach Ben Johnson's system from their time together with the Detroit Lions.

Alexander has hauled in three passes for 42 yards and a touchdown before halftime.

Giants fans had to show their appreciation for Odell Beckham Jr. when he checked into the game during the second quarter. He's a fan favorite who provided some iconic highlights in his heyday with the team.

The Giants will find out how much Beckham has left in the tank in his age-34 season. He has a good chance to make the roster with a strong showing in the preseason.

Remember, Beckham played under Giants head coach John Harbaugh in his one-year stint with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. In that year, he caught 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns.

Mecole Hardman was shifty in avoiding Carolina Panthers defenders for a big gain on the ground, but rookie fourth-rounder Jude Bowry accidentally made the stop. 

Quarterback Josh Allen's eyes lit up on the sideline while watching the play. Hardman and the rookie offensive lineman will probably laugh about this during film study. 

Hardman is battling to stay on the Bills roster after the team added DJ Moore and rookie fourth-rounder Skyler Bell. At the very least, he still has versatility and speed to offer the receiver corps.

Jaxson Dart is shaking off struggles at training camp and an early sack in the preseason.

Dart completed three out of four passes in limited action, capping off his second drive with a touchdown pass to rookie third-rounder Malachi Fields.

He still looks fluid in the pocket, though it's good to see him keep his eyes downfield instead of tucking the ball, running and taking another hit.

Last season, with the Las Vegas Raiders, Jamal Adams transitioned from safety to linebacker. He logged 45 tackles (five for loss) and a sack in 17 games (four starts).

At 30, Adams' move to a position closer to the line of scrimmage could extend his career. He looks spry in his first sighting in a Minnesota Vikings uniform.

KC Concepcion can't be stopped. The rookie wideout has a 31-yard punt return, two receptions for 20 yards and a 14-yard rushing touchdown.

Who said coordinators aren't creative in the preseason? It seems the Browns want to explore every facet of Concepcion's skill set, utilizing his speed all over the field.

What a first half for the rookie!

Keon Coleman scored the first touchdown in the Bills' new stadium. Perhaps it's a sign of good things to come for the third-year wideout who's gone through his ups and downs. 

Coleman regressed in his second season, catching 38 passes for 404 yards and four touchdowns. The team benched him for multiple games, an indication that he needed to mature going forward.

Bills promoted Joe Brady from offensive coordinator to head coach, and he rejected trade offers for Coleman. Thus far, it looks like a good decision.

The Browns can use KC Concepcion in a variety of ways, and this is one of them. The rookie first-rounder put the offense in a good spot on a long punt return. Cleveland kicked a field goal on the ensuing possession.

Expect to see Concepcion in different roles throughout the preseason and regular season as the Browns look to utilize his 4.43 speed.

After bouncing around the league and a year off in 2025, Odell Beckham Jr. is back in a Giants uniform. 

At 33, Beckham has stacked good practices at camp, and he could earn a spot on the roster this year. At this stage in his career, the savvy veteran can be a solid addition to the Giants' locker room as they build a new culture under John Harbaugh.

Keep in mind that the Giants haven't provided a clear return date for star wideout Malik Nabers, who's coming off a torn ACL. Beckham and the Giants' depth at wide receiver may have to fill a void in the early weeks of the season.

Josh Allen is already building a rapport with wideout DJ Moore, whom the Bills acquired from the Chicago Bears. 

For the fantasy experts out there, Moore should be the Bills' top receiver in multiple categories this year. He's a solid bounce-back candidate after finishing with career lows in catches (50) and receiving yards (682) last season.

This is a good start for Allen and Moore as they look to take the Bills' aerial attack to new heights.

According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Giants' offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said Jaxson Dart is "super talented," but he's "experiencing struggles" at camp.

Dart and his supporting cast can iron out the wrinkles with live snaps against the Minnesota Vikings. It'll be important for Big Blue to build some momentum heading into the regular season, coming off a 4-13 campaign.

Dart showed flashes in his rookie season, throwing for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions with 487 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. Still, he must make strides as a pocket passer while staying healthy in his second term. 

Dart will have a chance to showcase his offseason development in the Giants' preseason opener.

The Seattle Seahawks will take the field tonight against the Dallas Cowboys, but first, they took care of some in-house business, signing Devon Witherspoon to a record-setting deal. 

Witherspoon has earned a Pro Bowl nod in all three of his seasons with the Seahawks, racking up 249 tackles (16 for loss), 32 pass breakups and two interceptions. It's a well-deserved pay raise for the Seahawks' lead cover man.
